Not true. A good role player could certainly help the team. Sure it wont make them a contender but at least could be the difference between a 10th seed and 7th seed. The Suns right now feature some offensive talent with Amare, Nash, JRich, Barbosa, and Hill. Now what they need is to get a defensive center and good rebounder.

Your right. Since Ramon Sessions isn't a restricted free agent or anything.

Agreed. One player is not gonna grab all these rebounds for us and all of a sudden make the Suns a contender. The only player I think the Suns could have gotten to help them defensively would have been Tyson Chandler (when healthy).

Considering rebounding has been the Suns biggest weakness since Charles Barkley left, and considering we still have Steve Nash, Jason Richardson, Leandro Barbosa, Grant Hill, and Amare Stoudemire.....yes, a guy who kicks ass at rebounding down low would help us out immensely.

Wilcox is not that great of a rebounder. Sure he has more size than Frye, but he isn't a very good rebounder(for his career he is under 9 rebounds per 36minutes) and like others have said he doesn't have much of an offensive game outside of 5 feet. He is crazy athletic and he would be a nice fit in our fast pace system but we need a guy that can run AND spread the floor. In that regard, Frye > Wilcox.

BUT I don't know what kool-aid you guys are drinking but neither Frye nor Wilcox can play center. Neither of them is a good post defender. Both are too light for the C position, and neither of them is a shotblocker or rebounder.

Now I don't mind Frye, But I do not want him starting. Lopez should start and Frye/Amundson should come off the bench.

Eh, my point wasn't necessarily about Wilcox specifically, just the position in general.

Qwigglez - Dirk is a choke artist? So you wouldn't want him on ur team? I hate the guy but damn he puts up monster numbers

He reminds me of Amundson in terms of hustle. Stoudemire in terms of his dunks. He has great footwork and he knows where to put his body for the rebound and put-back opportunites.

Plus he would be an instant crowd favorite.

I'm a fan.

Suns don't need a center!!
We have five big bodies, and we need not take away the little playing time we got for our young players. They need to develop and they could be that center that you are all talking about.

Other than Lopex we don;'t have a legitimate centre. back in the prime of SSOL we didn't have a centre at all, but we did have Diaw and Kurt, then later Skinner. That's what we don't have now - a banger, some muscle inside

Someone here was interested in Johan Petro - looks like he may be available soon.
I don't know his game at all -

Hoopsworld (edit): "The Denver Nuggets are on the verge of acquiring forward Malik Allen from the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Sonny Weems and Walter Sharpe according to multiple sources close to the team. Allen gives the Nuggets another big-man who comes at a relatively cheap rate as he is scheduled to make just $1.3 million next season. The move will allow the Nuggets to get another much needed post player without having to dip into any of the Traded Player Exceptions the team currently owns.

Flipping Sharpe and Weems into Allen makes sense for the Nuggets given the fact neither was likely to play many minutes for Denver next season. In Allen, the Nuggets get a veteran player who will be a nice insurance policy.

Allen's pending acquisition doesn't mean Denver is done looking at other options, but it does ensure that the Nuggets will have more low post depth next season. Should the trade become official as it is expected to later this week, it will likely signal the end of free agent Johan Petro's tenure with the Nuggets."
