Another Boozer trade rumor--UTH, CHI, HOU

Post#1 » by xstockholmsyndromex » Mon Jul 20, 2009 5:07 pm

David Locke is reporting this rumor coming out of Chicago ESPN

Jazz send: Boozer, Fesenko

Chicago sends: Tyrus Thomas, James

Houston sends: Battier, Landry

Utah receives: Battier, Landry, James (who's contract comes off due to injury)

Chicago gets: Boozer

Houston gets: Tyrus Thomas, Fesenko

Discuss.

Why would Houston do this if they are not getting Boozer in the deal?

Battier PLUS Landry for Thomas?

Not a chance.

As much as some people around here have an infatuation with Battier (I'm not one of those people by the way) how many small forwards/shooting guards can we actually have on one team?

Where do I sign? Couldn't get much better value for Boozer than that in my opinion.

I think the trade can be done but not how it is. It sounds like a Chicago/Utah trade is inevitable, but with who else is the question.

Doesn't offer much to Houston unless there is cash involved, or a pick.

Remember Fesenko did have that good game against Yao, so going off what they have seen they might believe they are getting a real prospect back. Don't underestimate how teams value players who play well against them.

In these kinds of trades it always seems like there is one or two more fillers then originally reported. Maybe CJ is involed?

So basically Scoop Jackson is reporting all this.

He just posted this. I really have a problem with posting stuff off Twitter, but here you go:

Source: "Talks are impending on hourly basis, though, one GM(D.Morey) would rather have the opportunity to buyout Jerome James."

If you trade for an injured player, the insurance can pay his contract, but you are not eliglible to request his salary be removed from the CAP. This happened to NY last year with Mobley.

this works.

Congratulations on a successful trade.

Due to Utah, Chicago, and Houston being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Utah, Chicago, and Houston had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Well, Sam Smith tweeted and shot down the rumors. But he also wrote that Boozer has up to a 45 percent chance of coming to Chicago, by trading Tyrus and Jerome James if Utah accepts that.
Otherwise. It's not happening.

Though I think if you're willing to throw in CJ Miles with Boozer, then perhaps they're open to trading both Tyrus and Hinrich. But so far, as far as I know....this will probably go down if Utah will accept Tyrus and Jeromes James for Boozer. Utah needs the cap space anyway. And James is an expiring contract. And Tyrus is a promising player with a bright future. He's got a soft outside shot.

If you look at the forums, Chicago fans are the fans that most want him. New Jersey are not as eager to have him as they want the cap space to land two studs.

I like getting a package built around Battier in return for Booz. Wouldn't mind that at all.

Don't like getting Tyrus and Jerome James straight up for him, though. That is a clear rip off, and Chicago would have to be out of their mind to think that is a fair deal. Whoever gets Boozer is going to be loving life.

Landry has a team option on the last year of his deal so that could offer the Jazz some salary relief. Especially if they land a high pick in next years draft. I think this moves (whether its a reality or not) signals the end of Korver or AK. If they let Korver walk and re-signed Brewer at around 5 mil to start they would be about 3-5 mil over the tax.

The only reason I see Houston doing this is setting themselves up for Amare or Bosh. If Yao can come back healthy and they can get a top 10 pick out of it they might have a short rebuilding process. Making this deal Houston would be anywhere from 20 to possibly 30 mil under the cap. This all depends on the cap for 10-11 and what they sign their 2nd round picks too.

:-? I guess i'll be one of the only ones not really in favor of going smaller and losing fesenko..I think he has some promise..

Trade CJ/boozer anytime anyplace..CJ is lost in the rotation and his contract sucks but fesenko? ehh..

Umm Ill take CJ over Fes. Fes is a bust here and Koufous is x10 the player Fes is. Fes is a big body, but with Yao out and Shaq in the east he is less and less necessary. I would like to keep him, but to get Battier I would give him up in a heart beat.

I love this trade, If this was on the table the Jazz would pull the trigger for sure. Houston will never do this trade unless someone gives them a 1st round pick. Houston would probably want the NY pick but I don't think you should give up Boozer and the NY pick for anything less then a superstar.

Is it possible to trade Boozer straight to Houston for Battier and Landry?

That is absolutely awful for the Jazz. Battier and Salmons involved in the trade and we get Tyrus and James? Jazz don't save nearly enough money to get **** in the ass like that.

Yes, it is, after September 25th, or upon Landry's approval. Jazz save about 2.8 million (5.6 if we include the luxury tax) and get 2 great role players. We'd have too many wings, but I guess we could ship Korver or CJ out if the trade went through. And hell no to any trade involving the NY pick. It will most likely end up being a top 10 pick and it will have chance (even if a small one) of being a top 3 pick in the draft. Unless we're getting a superstar here, we shouldn't trade the pick at least until the draft lottery.
