MN/SAC idea

Post#1 » by Dewey » Sun Jul 19, 2009 8:38 pm

After Aug 10th,... assume the Rube is coming, would you make the trade? It's dead, so I thought I would propose a hypothetical...

Love/Flynn to SAC
and
Evans/Hawes to MN

leaves MN with a potential starting 5 of Rubio/Evans/Gomes/Jefferson/Hawes. We looked hard at drafting Hawes 2 years ago, and SAC was real close to taking Flynn over Evans...
Flip response to Love wanting out, "He has no reason to be upset, you're either a part of the problem or a part of the solution"

I wouldn't do it. Despite his height, Evans would probably be an even worse (or at least as bad) fit next to Rubio than Flynn, and Love is a more valuable player than Hawes.

I think that's too much for us to give. I'd only put Evans a bit ahead of Flynn, although with Rubio, Evans at the SG fills a need. But Love is worth much more than Hawes, even though I like how Hawes could work with Jefferson, since he can step out and hit a 20 ft jumper.

Instead of Love, I might go Smith and the Utah pick. Not sure if SAC goes for it, even though I think Flynn fits better than Evans with Kevin Martin.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

I like Flynn and Evans equally and Love much much more than Hawes, so I vote no. Evans would be a bad fit next to Rubio too, not sure if as bad as Johnny, but still far from ideal.

i'm not sure if i'm making this up or not, but Hawes wasn't picked because he was a poor fit in the community and team chemistry, they didn't think he'd get along well here. I would like to see him here as a great fit next to Al, but not at the cost of Love. Love has a better chance of growing 2 more inches and lstart hitting hit the 20ft'er more reliably than Hawes has of learning to rebound like Love and gain court awareness/passing ofLove.

It's an interesting idea and I love Evans, but I think Love is worth way more than Hawes.

If Rubio does sign this year, I think Martin is an intriguing pick up and have said before with Sacto's love of Flynn and Evans being more of a SG, it could make some sense both on the court and financially for Sacto. I think you'd have to look at the basics being Flynn and Cardinal for Martin with other possible filler. We could include picks/Peko which would be fair. Or take on someone like Beno dealing Telfair and an expiring like Madsen/Smith. I would be in favor of either, but would rather deal a pick than take on Beno's (or Nocioni-their other bad contract) salary. Of course that could make us more competitive this year and likely cause our pick to go to the Clippers, which seems to be what we're working hard to prevent this year with the deep draft. So they might just roll with the SGs we have for a year until making a big splash.

I'd pass easily, I think Flynn is going to be better than Evans and Love is obviously going to be better than Hawes. Also Rubio and Evans don't seem like a good fit to me, both ball dominant and both mediocre shooters.

I might do this if the Kings included a top 3 protected 1st or something.

Its an interesting idea, but I think MIN will try to move Telfair instead of Flynn.
