I wish they'd just go ahead and sign Adrien and release Hakim. Give him a shot to find a team on his terms and get on with his career.

If the Grizz are going to keep Arthur who is more of a traditional 4 than Hak, then what exactly is 15 minutes a night worth? Carroll has locked up the backup 3 and if Rudy extends prior to the season than you will only go two deep at that position. The Grizz have informed the guy that he is in their plans but I just don't see how he fits unless they are going to move Arthur?

I wish the Grizz would go ahead and let Hak go to another team and be done with it. They already screwed up their chances to at least get some value back for him.

Yea i feel the Same way Im From Philly and I watched" Skinny"{Thats His NickName Back Home} Play his whole Career They used him wrongfully in memphis kept tryna make him a 4 he is not a power forward he doesnt like to bang down low he's a small forward at heart... he like slashing back door and stuff roaming free basically..... Let Him Go so he can start ova again.....

Hak's a tweener in the worst possible way in the NBA. Not tough enough to defend 4's and too slow to defend the vast majority of 3's. He refused to put on weight so he's stuck without a contract now.

Is it a possibility that Hak may have attempted to gain weight with no success. Look at Chris Bosh. He went through the same thing and was not able to gain much weight despite his methods.

I don't see why he would want to remain with Memphis. There's only one ball and considering the team now, there's not enough shots to go around.

Bingo - Warrick's a one trick pony. He'd be an excellent rotation guy on a team with a second unit focused on defense. A great spark off the bench offensively - as long as you can cover for his non existent defense. Houston, for example, comes to mind. I don't know, Hak's a great guy and I wish him the best, but the ship has sailed (IMO) on his ever being a meaningful contributor to the Grizz...

Nah, not really.

His ball handling is weak and he's a bad defender. His jump has improved though.

Could see it coming. But in this economy I think Memphis might be thinking they can sign Warrick to less than the qualifying offer. But with Carroll showing some good skills in summer league, and Arthur being a cheaper backup to Randolph you have to wonder where Warrick would fit.

Warrick will remain on Memphis' cap for the time being at $6.2 million -- 300 percent of his salary last season -- but the Grizzlies could move about $9 million below the cap if they formally renounce their rights to him or move him in a sign-and-trade deal.

It remained to be seen whether the move meant the Grizzlies were ready to resume discussions with Iverson, who was offered a one-year contract by Memphis earlier this summer and whose box-office appeal is said to be a selling point with owner Michael Heisley.

"I'm not a guy who says things automatically cannot happen, because funny things can start to happen in free agency. We haven't closed the door on anybody. It would be premature to do that," Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace told ESPN.com. "We like Hakim and felt he contributed, but we wanted a little more flexibility going forward in free agency."

Another of Warrick's Grizzlies teammates, Rudy Gay, said he spoke with Warrick on the telephone Friday morning before Team USA's minicamp practice.

"I'm not quite sure what's going on. Not only was Hakim by teammate, he was one of my good friends on the team, so it's going to be tough to play without him, but this is a business," Gay said. "I spoke to him this morning, and he basically said he's moving on. He explained it to me, and I basically gave him my blessing.

"I'm not really quite sure where we're going right now, but I'm pretty sure by the time the season starts we'll have a better idea," Gay said.

Warrick's agent, Bill Duffy, said he had already been contacted by five teams with interest in Warrick by Friday afternoon, though he would not disclose them.

"This was a directive from the owner. It came down from the top, and it is consistent with the cost-cutting measures going on across the NBA," Duffy told ESPN.com. "Eighty percent of the NBA teams, their focus now is economic."

Several NBA executives were caught unaware of the move, learning about it as they attended Team USA's mini-camp in Las Vegas.

The same was true for one of Warrick's now-former teammates, O.J. Mayo.

"If it's to make room for Allen Iverson, I definitely think we're making a step forward," Mayo said, "and as a young player in my second year in the league I definitely gets me excited that we're going the right way and making some good choices for the organization."

Iverson's agent, Leon Rose, did not immediately return calls seeking comment.

I dunno...I guess I just dont understand the bottom line.

All the comments about Warrick in this thread appear to be true, yet if you look at last years statistics you see 2nd highest FG % on the team after Marc Gasol at .491, folks thats pretty good.

It's higher than Gay, Conley, OJ, Arthur...and Randolph.....all those folks the ownership and commenters here seem to love, yet somehow Warrick isn't good enough to play on the Grizzlies? Guess I just don't get it.

Personally, I think we'll start to see a buzz about Hak the next few days and will see his contract picked up by another team. Maybe several of you are right...it's just time for him to move on.

Hak's no star, but I think almost all of us will be surprised of he doesnt get at least 10 years in the league. Luck to Hak...

For all his offensive prowess, he gives up just as much, if not more, on the other end. Really, he's a good scorer, but every other facet of his game is subpar.
