UFC 103 Franklin vs Belfort ... EDITED

Post#1 » by Nemesis21 » Mon Jul 20, 2009 10:41 pm

This fight will headline. Thought maybe Hendo would get rematch with Anderson, after brutally taking out Bisping.

Where is Franklin's career going after losing to Silva the 2nd time around? Same with Hendo. Both guys in 185/205 limbo me thinks.

Great for Franklin, get's his much wanted rematch but sucks for Hendo. I'm sure he had someone else in mind for his next fight.

Sucks for Henderson. If Bisping had won, he would've gotten a title shot. I don't understand how people think Hendo fighting Silva again is a bad idea. I mean, he was clearly winning that fight before the choke.

His win against Franklin wasn't decisive enough. Not at all. But yes, I am not really interested in Silva going 3-0 on Ace if it does end up there. :|

Any word on what weight class this will be at?

195 would make the most sense, IMO. However, I could see it being at 205 again. I think with another win against Franklin at that weight class, Hendo could get his title shot...against Machida.

195 still makes sense though, because that would keep both options open for Hendo and the UFC. Also, I don't want to hear anything about how fights at 195 (or any catch weight really) have nothing to do with rankings in any other weight class. That's ridiculous.

Damn I was about to post this...oh well. I think that Henderson should get the title match after taking out Bisping, plus it seems like the first fight was like a month ago. But none the less I like the main card for 103.

ohhh this is gonna be good!
this is hopefully going to be a great fight regardless if hendo was looking for his title shot.
if he does win this fight however he definatley deserves one.

i dont know how reliable this is, but i just went to wikipedia and searched ufc103, and it says it's going to be a light heavyweight bout, soo it's more than likely going to be 205

There were some rumors that Tito Ortiz would be on this card since he and Dana made up (posted on their twitters).

Ehhh. I wanted Hendo to take Spider again. Would probably win the rematch, too.

Yeah, I heard those rumours about Tito, and I was actually kind of hoping they were true.

I read some where that this fight potentially came from Franklin, who was touted to be at 103 Main Event, but had not signed his new contract, and something like this may have been what he was holding out on.

For Franklin its a good fight if he avenges the loss, however, it is a sort of limbo fight. This combined with his last 2 fights he will have fought a 185'er twice at 205 (what does that really do for a contendership status?) and a win at 195.

Hendo would have to wait a little while for a title fight, if that was what's next. Lets just hope he doesn't oblige Bisping who also seemingly wants to avenge his loss?

The card looks really good though, despite the questionable main event (which I think will be a good fight, dont get me wrong). I really thought this would have been one of those "limbo" cards a bit like 93/95, while good events and enjoyable.

Sucks for Hendo, but probably the best move for the UFC.

Good thinking. I bet this is the thinking.

I wanted to see Maia vs. Hendo with the winner getting Spider. Hendo/Ace is weak, I will not pay for that one.

The rest of the card looks v.good, and its not like Hendo vs Ace won't be a high calibre fight, its just questionable motives/situation for the fighters involved.
