I've heard there is a really good Punjabi player somewhere in Cali, don't know where exactly... but apparently he has NBA potential... wish I knew his name...

No NBA Players Just NBDL Players,

Macon, GA. The ABA Macon-based Georgia Gwizzlies today signed 23 year old Ralph Hishaw, a 6'7, 220 forward, as the team works to build a team with unusual diversity, having previously signed an Iranian and Nigerian. "We think Ralph, a Native American player of extraordinary talent," can do some amazing things - he's almost like a "point-forward playing the white square on the backboard," said Embry Malone, team owner. "We compare him to Jamerio Moon, now with the Toronto Raptors, and think the fans will be very excited to see him in action."

Like the movie White men cant jump.. Indians are too short for the sport.. Plus cricket is a stiff competition..
Knowing india well I seriously doubt if any indian will ever make it to the NBA..

Im indian, from india (lol), and i dont think there will be an indian basketball player anytime soon. Whenever my family goes to India we see hoops and stuff, but they are usually empty or have people playing cricket or soccer on the courts instead. however, India does have some athletic people and I think with the NBA expanding there (baron davis was there) the sport could become big soon. Indians also love to copy things from other countries, they get excited easily. So once basketball gets big in India, there will be no stoping it.

Athleticism is genetic and Indians are at a disadvantage in many ways to make it to the NBA level. The best I've ever heard an Indian make is playing in Iran for a pro team.

basketball just isn't the IT sport there. if it was, then of course you would have Indian NBA players. There's a better chance of an Indian/Middle-Eastern American making it to the NBA, which still probably won't happen. Even Filipinos haven't made it to the NBA if I'm wrong correct me

Re: OT- Indian NBA player
For a good idea as to why, here were the heights of India's national team players during the recent FIBA Asia Champions Cup:
Guards: 5'9", 5'8.5".
Forwards: 6'1", 6'1", 6'1", 6'2.5", 6'3", 6'3",
Centers: 6'2,5", 6'5", 6'6", 6'7".
There just isn't a tonne of room for 6'1" forwards in the league.

**** your asterisk.

Re: OT- Indian NBA player
one of the main reasons is because of the lack of interest and progress in developing the sport amongst the youth in india. soccer and cricket remain the top sports by a wide margin. hopefully with time, there will be an improvement in accessibility to the game (not only watching, but more importantly playing) ie. building courts...
Thank you, Phil.
