Jason Williams...

Post#1 » by SideSwipe » Mon Jul 20, 2009 11:45 pm

A lot of us on here talked about Jason Williams before it was declared he wouldn't be elligible for reinstatement last year. He is now reinstatement elligible. What would you guys think of adding Williams to this roster, if for nothing else than to have some entertainment during the season. He could sure pass and when he was on, he could hit the 3. His career numbers aren't great, but if I'm not mistaken I think he has a ring. Might be good for a 1 year run with a team option for a second year. Thoughts?

If he helps us win, great! If we lose, then we'll at least enjoy the ride.

One of my favourite players. He'd definitely make SSOL go, but his lack of defense would hurt us.

For the vet min, I'd consider it.

Pass, he doesn't have the upside at this point to make him worth the risk... too much baggage.

Honestly i'd rather develop Dragic at this point in time, but it sure would be fun to have White Chocolate running up and down...

I can't help but think of how much fun it would be to see him out there with Richardson, Clark, Stoudemire and Frye running the floor on the fast break.

I don't think Shaq's former teammates like him too much.
Tyron Lue never joined us too.

This team needs an emergency PG. If nash goes down for a significant amount of time or dragic needs microfracture or something, a 3rd point guard is necessary for any team that wants to make some noise in the playoffs. Not only for depth but to reduce nash's minutes in the regular season. My confidence grows in barbosa's playmaking every game, but it isnt optimal to make him run the point when he is so good offball, and he knows his role very well.

Our magic training staff will whip him into shape and he will be best friends with grant hill and they will both have great years.

Once he gets his endurance back I think this entire board would love to see him handle our uptempo offense. He is a mirror image of nashs handles but a lesser shooter, but he has the range and IQ to be a perfect fit in this system.

Dragic isnt ready to be our main and only backup plan for point guard.

If we were to get a 3rd PG i'd rather get Brev Knight, but who knows perhaps Jason Williams has finally grown up and is healthier than we think. I wouldn't hate the addition at this point but I think there are better options.

What can brevin knight bring to the table that would surpass JWill?

JWill would be awesome as a backup pg. Last year i would have loved him here because Dragic played absolutely horrible and Barbosa is just a lot better as sg. But Dragic played very well in Summer League, showed his potential and I think, there is a chance he gets the job done but it's iffy.
Maybe bringing in White Chocolate would slow down Dragic's progress but at the end of the day it's about putting the best team on the floor to give us a chance of winning and I'd take JWill over Dragic or Barbosa as a nackup for nash anytime.
