Yep, expecting Andrew to stay healthy, out of foul trouble and productive for 82 games plus another 20 or so in the playoffs is pretty high-risk, in my opinion. He's done it for spurts, obviously, but he's never shown even an ounce of long-term consistency.
For that reason, Odom is essential in my opinion. Even if Andrew does pull it all together and render Lamar an overpaid extravegance in the process, all that means is less money out of Buss' wallet.
Why any fan would give two squirts of piss about that is beyond me.

Re: Can we win it all with current roster (Minus Odom)
As long as we get a decent replacement who can play somewhat we will be fine. And as long as that guy knows his role and brings something to the table every night. Then we should be okay. Lets not forget that Odom has stretches of nothing too. Even though he has had some big games for us.
As bad as our bench guys were last year they can't get worse. I think Powell is a solid back up and played fairly well when given the opportunities. Farmar is in a contract year, so I think he'll definitely play well and determined. Brown will see more playing time and I think will flourish if he continues to work on his shot. Luke is Luke. And Sasha can't get any worse from last year.

And to answer I think we can still win it all. Maybe people have lost hope but Bynum had two fluke injuries. I doubt it happens a 3rd time. And we all know when given the minutes he produces. I have no doubts he will step his game up and become a lot more reliable.

Of course.
A trio of Kobe, Pau, and Ron
can beat any team. I see Artest
as the replacement of Odom not
Ariza. In 07-08, we reached the finals
with the trio of Kobe, Paul, and Odom
with Ariza on the bench (most of the time).
Artest is like a Barkley who can be a PF.
We can reach the finals too with K, P, and R.
The question is can Walton step in the
shoes of Ariza. The answer to that is yes.
In the 03-04 finals, he was the only one
clicking. So barring any major injury, and Andrew
going back to his dominant double-double self,
the Lakers can do a back2back.

lakers won't miss too big of a beat IF bynum can rebound like he did two seasons ago. people forget that his rebounding effort was pitiful almost all season.

I could care less on what you think I need to hear. I've been watching ball long enough to know what I know and see. Makes no difference what so ever if he watched Artest play the whole season, I've seen Artest play his whole 12 seasons. It's no mystery to me what he can do or what he brings to the table. I know he can be erratic and wild at times.MagicFan32 wrote:oh right a guy who watched Artest play every game last year has irrelevant thoughts, just because he isn't saying what you want to hear.
I attacked his post simply because one he came on our board (like you did) and spewed about Ron like we didn't already know what was up. We have knowledgeable fans on this board who know what's up.
Second was the fact that he immediately went into a rant on how the Laker season was basically luck because teams were injured. Going on to say what teams are "ahead" of us as he put it and telling us how Ron will hurt our team chemistry. How in the hell would he know about that ? Logic says a guy like Ron who want's to win isn't going to come here and mess with nothing.
If your old enough to remember the Lakers lived this situation once before with Dennis Rodman. He was good at the start, but once he started missing practices on top of the fact we had a young team is ass was out the door like a Fed Ex package. Translation Dr.Buss isn't letting nobody no matter how much he likes them as was the case with Rodman, screw up or mess up his teams period.
Bottom line is this , I'm not letting guys just come on our board and spit garbage and diss or piss on my squad. See that's the problem all you cats think you can come here and take liberties and think Laker fans should just sit back and except it.........even on our own board. Bull Sh*t.......I'm not having it. When guys post crap like that it insinuates we don't know what the hell is going on which is a flat out lie. So see I don't need guys to "tell me what I want to hear" when I already know what's up, his opinion like I said is irrelevant much like yours too.

Minus Odom, I don't see you guys getting pass the Spurs. But with Odom, you guys are very legit, but considering how much better the EAST have gotten, its going to be hard to win again.

Ppl underestimate the zen of Phil .. he tamed Kobe,Shaq and Gary Payton while they were PMSing and we still got to the finals.. Ron will fall in line for sure..
Ron almost singlehandedly beat us goes to show what he can do.. Very frankly other than Dwight he is the single scariest guy in the league as far as defensive abilities..
To me it is the singlebiggest move by any team in the offseason..
To all the non Laker fans i say "Neighbors envy , owners pride"
