Lou Amundson Appreciation (While He's Still Here)
Been seeing a lot of "appreciation" threads not just here but for other teams and their respective departed players.
But come to think of it, we should have an "appreciation" thread for a player who is currently serving the final year of his contract this season: LOU AMUNDSON.
You guys do realize the only reason Amundson is playing for Phx is because his salary is a meager $800,000 or so. Sarver/Kerr picked him up because they thought he was the best talent available at that price range.
Next season, we know for a fact teams will be hunting Lou using a portion of their MLE. He is probably going to sign something like 3-yrs 9-10 million or so. That's something Suns won't be doing considering they have their hands full with Amare and Earl Clark up at the four position. (Assuming they extend Amare).
So, moral of the story: Appreciate Lou this final season because he is going to be the fan favorite for another team next year.....whatever team willing to dish 10 million for his services.

I see you are up to your traditional bashing and cursing on all the other threads.
Still the same. Still haven't learned after all these years.

3 years $10 million?
I know he hustles, but I really don't think anyone is going to be offering him that much. But hell, I wouldn't mind seeing that happen for him. I don't really like the guy to be honest. Looks kinda like a flamer with the hair....

Re: Lou Amundson Appreciation (While He's Still Here)
Lemme see...
Undersized PF who has trouble guarding larger players with a back to the basket game.
No offensive game outside of the immediate basket area.
No real back to the basket post moves on offense.
Worst FT shooter in the league among PFs, so there's no way you can have him in the game in the 4th quarter.
Plays back up on a mediocre team.
Lou's a really nice guy and works his tuckus off, he's the ideal practice player, but no one will offer him any more money than we did, and truth be told he's on the cusp of being on ANY roster. Strict 12th or 13th man material.

I'm pretty sure Lou already signed another 1 year deal with the Suns so I don't know where you're getting him going to another team from... I think he likes it in Phoenix and honstely, he seems like the kind of guy that doesn't need a ton of money to be happy. Kinda nerdy though... He wants to be called Thor... haha

Pretty sure it was a team option which they exercised.

So there's the nickname we were searching for - Big Gay Lou
But, to be serious for a moment, I kindof doubt he'll be getting anything like $3mil-plus a year offers. Like yousay, a great guy and we all love him, but that's just ... unlikley
Marquis Daniels signed for $1.9 - I see Lou getting in the $1.5 range.
That said, if he gets minutes and performs, he could earn a better deal.

Right, it was our option and after this season, he's a FA.

Three years 10M for a guy that doesn't have a jumpshot
I wouldn't be surprised if that happened though considering the Suns re-signed Nash to keep the Scottsdale cougars happy so who knows maybe they will sign Lou Amundson to a huge extension...

wait, so Lou is not on the Suns roster currently? He still has to sign with them if he wants to remain on the Suns?

He is on the roster. The Suns exercised their team option on him.

Re: Lou Amundson Appreciation (While He's Still Here)
Lou's a decent player, but he is what he is - a high hustle role player, so $1m max. I expect a Marks like career - carving out a niche as a play hard, cheap end backup big who'll probably last 10 years..
