Ryan Hollins
He's a good option to play C for us next year. He can run, he's athletic, average defender, solid shot blocker, and can protect the rim. We CANNOT start Amar'e at center. It shouldn't be done. With all the injuries he's faced, I really don't want to put him in a position where something bad can happen again. Lopez/Hollins should be a good combo going forward of average centers that can hold it together with 4 other good players. Do you think we should throw an offer at him (even though he's restricted)? I doubt they match if we offer a 8/3 offer with 3rd being PO.

The underappreciated greats:

Some seek fame cause they need validation, some say hating is confused admiration - Nasty, nasty Nas

I think the signing of Frye might take that option away, i do like Hollins though he looked good against us last year... Does anyone know exactly how much more $ we have to spend before the L-Tax kicks in?

The luxury tax kicks in at $69.2 million this season. Currently, with Sasha Pavlovic on the roster, the Suns payroll is at $64.8 million. If we buy out Pavlovic's contract, that should reduce his contract from $5 million towards the luxury tax to $1.5 million towards the luxury tax bringing the total team salary to $61.3 million giving us around $8 million to spend. With Pavlovic bought out we would have to sign at least one more player to bring our roster to the league minimum of 13.

Re: Ryan Hollins
^ You're forgetting about Steve Nash. His TO hasnt been officially picked up yet and thus is not included in the $64.8m figure.

I think it is, although not the whole value. I may be wrong though...

Re: Ryan Hollins
^ Good catch. With Nash's contract then we are at roughly $77.8 million (without buying out Pavlovic). If we buyout Pavolovic and save $3.5 million (which becomes $7 million in savings due to luxury tax) we are at $74.3 (about $5 million above luxury tax) plus we would have to sign at least one more player to be at the minimum roster size...

Re: Ryan Hollins
Veterans minimum doesn't count against the cap I believe so if the Suns are to get someone it will be for veteran's minimum. I think the Suns should get Keith Bogans. He can be the next Raja Bell for us, only cheaper.

Um yes..?
Since when did we count salary in terms of the position players play?
Veteran's minimum is 1 mil. Plus it doesn't count towards salary cap.
Which also would give the Suns a chance to trade Jason Richardson if the opportunity arises during the course of the season.

I do not think that is so strange... but perhaps we should count available minutes to further extinguish your flame for Bogans.

jeez Qwiggs... could you please describe such an opportunity ???
Would it be something like all the other SGs in the league were attending a SG convention and the plane went down in a fiery crash

You guys keep saying we trade Richardson for a big. If that were to happen, we would be weak in the SG deparment. If the Suns got Keith Bogans we'd be able to push for a trade so we'd still have two SG's instead of just one (Barbosa).
Sure lets count minutes
Nash-30
Richardson-30
Barbosa-24
If Dragic starts to play horribly, move Barbosa to PG, and have Keith Bogans play SG for 12 minutes.

Don't do a big master lump with that ' You guys' crap.... if you have been reading as much as you have been posting, you'd see that it just aint so.
I'd take Hollins, but we'd still be woefully weak in the paint. I am hoping we and some how get KT back. May be a mid season deal or 3 teamer. He seems like one of the few that is expendable (GD Milw sux) and would instantly mesh.
Now some one 'Pipe meet Dream' me.

Kurt would be good for a solid 16 minutes. We'd be able to add him to our "Class Act" veterans too. As much as I'd like to see him be a part of the Suns organization again, I think the Bucks are looking to trade Bowen, and Kurt in a package for someone.
How about Richardson for Bowen, Kurt, and they re-sign Keith Bogans for a S&T

Wooh!

If Milwaukee is willing to dump salary and take on Pavlovic to waive him - possibly a Sasha for KT and a body after the 60 days are up
granted, the suns would then have to be willing to take on about $5m in cost when you calculate what KT makes doubled compared to what waiving Sasha P does
but the longer the suns go without waiving Sasha - the more I think he will be traded after the 60 day rule

Well that's an interesting thought because they kept Tucker out of all but one summer league game and said it was because they didn't want him to get hurt. Maybe it's a possibility that they do wait the 60 days or so needed to combine Sahsa with Tucker in some sort of trade, I just don't know what kind of trade that would net us.........any ideas ???

Re: Ryan Hollins
Good call RealSunsFan about Tucker not playing - based on the AZ Republic story - or maybe Coro's blog - Majerle was not too happy with Tucker - something about "it is what it is" . I also read on this forum that his contract is not guaranteed until 10/1... so if true, you add up the Sasha and Tucker contracts, that is $6m or so - of which only $1.5 guaranteed - the Suns could then take back up to like $7m -- but again, are they willing to pay even more of the luxury tax after dumping the Shaq contract to save money. As if they waive Sasha - that is like a $6.6m cash savings - sign another veteran for no more then a million, so still net $5.6m or more depending on the player signed.
I would like them to use the Sasha contract - at least try to get something of value for Shaq - even though I do get - that was a financial move totally.
