Saves us $200k in 2010 as he'd likely pick up his player option. Brings Evans back home to Minnesota. :-) He's also not a bad outside shooter and a decent FT shooter. He's also a thick 6'5" who's an ok defender and decent rebounder. I wouldn't mind him as our 3rd SG behind Ellington and Brewer. Telfair's 7 years younger and fills a more important position, so hopefully we'd get a little something more out of it.

Preferably we'd find an expiring for Telfair, though.

The reported deal almost assures that Bobby Brown will be on the opening day roster.

PG: Jonny Flynn
SG: Wayne Ellington
SF: Ryan Gomes (2010 Unguaranteed 4.3M)
PF: Kevin Love
C: Al Jefferson

SF/SG: Corey Brewer (2010 Team Option 3.7M)
SF/SG: Quentin Richardson (2010 Expiring 8.7M)
PF/C: Oleksiy Pecherov (2010 Team Option 2.4M)
PF: Darius Songaila (2010 ETO 4.8M)
C/PF: Etan Thomas (2010 Expiring 7.9M)
PF/SF: Brian Cardinal (2010 Expiring 6.75M)
PG: Bobby Brown (2010 Qualifying Offer 1.0M)

Who will get the most back-up big man minutes? Thomas,Songaila or Pecherov? Or will it be someone like Kurz or Siler?

Thomas and Songalia most likely. OPec will get minor minutes. Highly doubt anyone signed from our SL team will get any minutes of value.

so whats our OD lineup now?

Jefferson(36)/Thomas(12)
Love(34)/Songaila(12)/Pecherov(2)
Gomes(28)/Brewer(16)/Richardson(4)
Richardson(10)/Ellington(23)/Flynn(15)
Rubio(33)/Flynn(13)/Brown(2)

total:
Jefferson(36)
Love(34)
Rubio(33)
Gomes(28)
Flynn(28)
Ellington(23)
Brewer(16)
Richardson(14)
Songaila(12)
Thomas(12)
Pech(2)
Brown(2)

that sounds plausible?

I hope we give Paul Harris a look. He wasn't anything extraordinary in summer league, but he'd be an interesting as a project wing defender. Harris, Siler and Woodside (mostly due to the local angle) are the only three guys from the SL team not already on the roster I have any interest in.

Just no Kurz, please. Hisd hands are so bad it made me think that Joseph Conrad was a prescient Timberwolves fan.

I agree on Harris. Nice work on that rather obscure reference by the way.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

I think best case scenario we sign one Summer League player with promise and maybe look at a veteran that needs a job that can be a locker room presence that comes cheap once the big names get signed. Who that is, I have no idea.

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
