I feel pretty good about Flynn and I don't think we should hand Portland a potentially kick ass starting PG, even though Rudy would be a great addition.

What about Rudy and Outlaw for Flynn or maybe something like Rudy and Bayless for Flynn and Ellington?

Portland fans would never trade Rudy and Outlaw for Flynn, they adore those guys

Flynn looks like he's got the potential to be pretty special to me. I'd sure be hesitant to get rid of him. Looks like you guys got a gem.

Can POR trade the $9 mil Darius Miles obligation?
It seems like something that wouldn't be allowed, but I doubt the CBA covers it. It makes sense that a play-off contender like POR would want to turn that $9 mil black hole into some sort of on-court production, and MIN probably doesn't mind it as much since they aren't contending for anything this year. I see players as financial entities, and I 'm wondering if both teams wanted to make a deal, whether the NBA would step in?
For example, I could see something like
Etan Thomas + $1.1 mil TPE for "Darius Miles $9 obligation" + 2010 protected pick
.. being something both teams would benefit from. POR would turn the empty Miles production into a helpful player, and add a little more to what they could offer in a max deal, and MIN turns Etan's production this year into a future asset for 2010.
No, once a player is waived you cannot trade him.
przybilla and webster could be considered by some bad contracts, but not portland because they are rotation players. moving fernandez could open up minutes for webster.
I wouldn't trade flynn for him, but I'd offer the cha pick + filler for him.
I don't see portland giving him away to a rival unless there is something too good to pass up in it for them.

I really don't have any interest in being the team that gives Portland the first and last pieces of the foundation for a dynasty.

So lucky to get Jonny Flynn! Oh my god. He went to Niagra Falls high school....that's BUFFALO!
Snow, cold weather, hockey, more snow.....being in Minnesota is being at home.
He's a good kid, whose father is a minister. He has a smile on his face, and makes every one around him happy, and better!
OK, he's a rookie and summer league is summer league. What will he do when he plays against Pros? yes, and who did he have to pass to in summer league? Kevin Love? Al Jefferson?
Just wait...this boy has got "hops"..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LeM6Ir3qZk
...and feeds Harris http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CoDzGsyYokA
ask Kevin Love what he thinks of having Flynn setting him up...we're talking pure point guard,
...and he loves Minnesota weather...holy moly!

Yeh your right - cause we all know we helped them out enough with B-Roy.......... Kahn should just block Kevin Pritchards number and never make another deal with this guy. Pritch loves the game of it and lives to burn teams into making shocking trades.

Remeber the reaction Port fans had when this was first proposed? Nah we have Bayless and we're fine with him. Well fans! looks like Pritchard isn't fine with Bayless
...I'd still consider a Rudy for Flynn deal, but I might need some convincing.

I really do appreciate the feedback from T-Wolves fans, it is fun to hear what other fans think. However, this posturing language really is kind of crazy. This isn't a real negotiation. As fans we do not have the ability to influence real trades at all.
Keeping that in mind, as a Blazers fan I'll be honest. The "real" GM of the Blazers is probably at a bit of a disadvantage now. The Blazers do need an upgrade at the PG position, and there really aren't any great veteran options out there right now. IF the Blazers are willing to move Rudy, I suppose they could go after Hinrich, but Hinrich isn't a perfect option for the Blazers due to his lack of dribble penetration.
Flynn is a very talented prospect with a lot of potential, however, he's not a slam dunk option for the Blazers. PG is the most difficult position to adjust to in the NBA for a rookie. The Blazers ideally need a veteran PG who has won in the play-offs, not a wide-eyed rookie who's excited to be there for the first time. Also, Flynn is a bit under-sized (to be fair, Chris Paul gets along ok), and his perimeter shooting needs to improve (he has shown flashes).
All that being said, I'm not trying to downplay Flynn's upside. T-Wolves fans are excited by what they've seen in SL and from Flynn's interview skills. I think Flynn can legitimately become a very good to great NBA PG. However, Blazers fans view Rudy the same way. In addition, Rudy's relationship with Rubio does hold some serious value IMHO. Not just because they're "friends", but because of their on-court history. Just show up to any playground with open games, 5 random guys who are more talented will get beaten by a 5 man team who plays together a lot. Anyone who knows basketball knows this.
Bottom line, the T-Wolves have a very nice asset in Flynn. The Blazers have a very nice asset in Rudy. Like all trades, neither team would likely get everything they want, but I still think this could be a very even trade for both franchises.
Rip City, baby!!!!
