Surgery went well today. Here's to hoping for a good recovery for the Big Fella!

Don't rush him back too soon!

i wonder how fat he's gonna get with a whole year off of basketball, which he's probably never done since he was 10 years old
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

China media blames Yao injuries on long season

(AFP) – 13 hours ago
China's state media Tuesday blamed the rigours of the NBA for a career-threatening injury to star centre Yao Ming(notes), calling on the world's top basketball league to shorten its playing season.

The Houston Rockets centre, seen in China as a national hero, said last week he would have surgery on his broken left foot in the coming days and would probably miss all of the next National Basketball Association season.

A commentary in the Communist Party-run People's Daily dismissed the widely-held view in the United States that Yao's repeated injuries stemmed from training with China's national team during the NBA off-season.

"It can only be said that the NBA game has worn Yao Ming out," the paper fired back.

Ridiculous.

It's official, we need to nuke China.

Also, green font...and tits.

Best scenario Yao will be back to the training form somewhere close to January, let's say miracle happens, he will play for the Rockets if somehow they can make to the playoffs.

You don't seem to bother to read more about Yao on why he chose to take the surgery among the options (including option to heal the bone and come back mid season to play). Yao took 2 surgeries in a go. The 1st is to realign and repair the fracture. The 2nd is to RECONSTRUCT his bone structure and improve the stress loading. Big Z also had the foot injuries and took the same surgery. Since then, Big Z has not suffered any foot issues. Hopefully, Yao will be the same.
