Could this team win w/ a great geezer at PG???

Post#1 » by Mamba Venom » Wed Jul 22, 2009 9:26 am

I'm stoked about this Laker team. I know everyone is stressed about the LO situation but I have faith in LO and the Lakers. So before we get all crazy on LO not being a Laker... lets assume he is going to stay because the only competition is Miami.

NE Ways

I think this Laker team has such a great advantage at both the front court and wings AND that the triangle is such a great team that EITHER MAGIC OR MJ could run the point and the Lakers would still win it all.

I'm serious... a hall of famer winning it all in a starting role in his mid 40s!!! Jordan knows the triangle and even though he is old as dirt, he has great fundamentals, he can shoot and play D.

I would make a bet that Jordan could make a comeback and play the combo guard 1 for the Lakers in a Ron Harper type role and because of his greatness, win a ring. Even though he hasn't played in 7 years.

Lakers already have an old geezer playing point...his name is derrick fisher. That being said fish did prove he still has a little left in the tank. It took him getting to the finals before he starting knocking them down though. Reminded me alot of Horry. At some point you have to say the guy has run out of magic. Don't understand why Phil doesn't give farmer more minutes.

maybe it had to do with the fact that FarmAr sucked donkey pelotas last season.

Magic... No. he's far too slow and has no range.
Jordan... yeah I wouldn't be too shocked if it worked
Stockton... I bet he could actually he was sharp when he left and guys tend to keep shooting well and passing well.

With any of them we'd have to live with fast guys torching us... but hey we did all last year too.
Of course, I don't think Enlightenment was thinking it would really happen.

Haha thought the thread was about getting a young PG to replace "great geezer" Fish.
Thank you, Phil.

Have you seen Jordan lately? He was at a North Carolina game this past year. The guy is huge. Charles Barkley huge. He is not in game shape for a pick up game.

If I remember correctly Harper was a geezer too back then

Jordan is so good (better than Kobe) that he could get himself in great shape by Nov. He could shoot 40% from downtown, he can still guard like Bruce Bowen. Even slow, a defense of Jordan, Kobe and Artest w/ a dominate super-sized front court capable of blocking shots.

The triangle is best suited for a combo guard. Jordan would be perfect.

IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN... my main point THE LAKERS ARE SO GOOD THEY COULD MAKE THIS WORK IF THE WANTED.

you seem to have no clue about physiology

I understand you're just being excited about the team and don't really propose this scenario, but jordan is out of shape and done and there's no way he could ever get in shape to play a full nba season as a starter until november! no way. and that has nothing to do with how good he was. to put it in the words of the great champ kind: "AND THAT'S A SCIENTIFIC FACT!"
