Von Wafer Question

Post#1 » by collin_k41 » Wed Jul 22, 2009 6:47 pm

OK, I'm from the Wolves board and it seems we are in need of a SG. Von Wafer had pretty good stats last season in limited minutes but I guess he had a tie-up with Adelman at some point last season and that's the main reason you're not re-signing him. Would someone care to explain this incident to me and also elaborate on his attitude as a whole? Thanks in advance!

Well he is actually with the Suns now. But he had somewhat of a problem with being pulled out of a game in the Lakers series, so Adleman sent him to the lockers. Allegedly it was all worked out the next day, and was supposedly to have been forgiven and forgotten.

he does not have an attitude problem. He had a great attitude and came off the bench for 63 regular season games, and he just had "one" disagreement with adelman during a playoff game , he felt he was being poorly utilized or taken out of a game too soon.

I think it's unfair to categorize him as a bad apple just because of what happened during one game. He'll be a great addition for any team.

He thinks he's way better than he actually is.

Or drive, toughness, or clutch-ness.

Every player outside of Shane Battier, Calvin Booth, and Jerome James thinks they're better than they are.

You seem to have some pain behind those eyes, broseph. Care to discuss?

I can't be the only one driven to insanity by all those forced shots.

Is it definite that the Rox are not interested in bringing him back? Apparently the Knicks are trying to sign Wafer now:

" Walsh has had advanced discussions regarding Rockets shooting guard Von Wafer, according to his agent Raymond Brothers. Wafer was a surprise last season, averaging 9.7 points. Ironically, the former 2005 Lakers' second-round pick played for the Knicks summer league team in 2008 and barely saw action. A source said the parties were trying to arrange a Knick visit for Wafer, 24. Walsh is interested in a one-year deal, possibly for biannual exception ($2.9 million)."

Though this is from the NY Post, so take it with many grains of salt!

does Wafer play any defense ? I remember him taking a lot of ill advised shots but since I didn't watch that many Rocket games it could be coincidence?

I think that the Rockets are interested, but he probably played his way out of the price range they found to be acceptable for him. Some other team - Phoenix, New York or someone else - will probably offer him more than what he's going to be offered from Houston.

That's not a knock on him as a player, it's just how the Rockets organization seems to be running these days. They wouldn't overpay for Gortat, and the need at center was greater than the need at SG.
