Shocking...

How about letting the guy learn the NBA game for a while?

Again - this is based on watching the guy for 3 years in the Big East. NOTHING in his game indicated NBA difference maker. 7'3" underachiever with NO 3 SECOND RULE = NCAA difference maker. He lacks heart/fire. He's got Stromile Swift's demeanor. How about getting off your high horse while you're at it?

How did this turn into a debate about Thabeet? Marc Gasol is without a doubt the starting C. Randolph is the PF. Thabeet will be a good fill in for the both of them to give them a break. What is a "bust"? A bust is when a player dosen't reach his "expected" potential. I expect Thabeet to be a 12pt. 8 reb. 3blk. guy when his career is done. Not a 20 pt. 10reb. and 5blk. guy. With this being said, I still don't think he was a bad number 2 pick. I am definitely not sold on Rubio! Anybody after Griffin was a toss up. In the words of John Thompson "If you are going to bring me a mistake, make sure its a BIG one!"

Well...you say that cause you´re not a Grizz supporter. Everyone of us wanted Wallace/Heisley/Hollins to skip Thabeet. Even if he fall to #37 I would rather go with Young. After the draft I put on my mind that he was going to be our player, so I have to support him no mather what ( the same thing with ZBo), but after his SL, how can I do this? This guy has the pedigree of the Olowakandis, Bradleys and Podkolzines.

How I wish to be 7 footer! Be a millionaire just for being tall!!!

Was this during Geoff and Gary? I didn't get to hear it and they don't have the podcast up, so what did he say about Thabeet if that's the one.

Thabeet isn't a finished product and would've greatly benefited from an extra season at Uconn.

If guys insist on giving him the label of bust at this time and it gets out of hand and into his own head it'll become a self-esteem problem which is easily the biggest barrier he faces in terms of developing into a quality center in this league.

He has all the needed height, length, athletic ability, shot blocking skills, timing, coachability, work ethic and he has even shown the ability to shoot both at the line and a face up jumper.

What he doesn't have is the confidence that he should be playing in the NBA right now.

So why he declared?

But for a second overall pick those numbers are borderline bust if you ask me. A top 5 pick should be a difference maker for your team,

Gasol is one of, if not THE guy, who gives us some semblance of toughness. Guy is a warrior and comes to play virtually every night. Thabeet appears to be the opposite. No passion for the game. Give me a guy who just loves to compete and goes out to play hard everytime. There is no substitute for competitive spirit. Look at Carroll. The guy goes after it. Maybe the rooks like Young and Carroll will rub off on Thabeet a bit and get the guy fired up rather then looking like he's 2 seconds away from nap time.

No way should Gasol be anything but our starting centre this year and for years to come. Give him 30+ mins a game. He's earned them.

From outside view having Thabeet is a huge need I would split the mintues between Gasol and Thabeet. You guy have a scoring threat in Z-Bo but his weakness is in his defense with Gasol and Thabeet you have a big who can make up for him at all times. From what I saw in SL Thabeet didn't get a into the shotblocking but his presence caused the other players to change direction. If he can be a guy who can change the direction of shots you have a bonus and when you need a guy that needs to be physical you have Gasol.

Besides I think you guys picked up a gem in Sam Young.

I am very envious in what you have built here in Memphis when it looked like all the top guys verbally refused to come work out for your team before the draft...

Rubio, Jennings, Flynn, Curry and some others said no to your workouts...but I cannot think of another team who has helped themselves more then your Grizzlies.

I will be keeping a close eye on them all year long...

Thanks for Hakim Warrick though. I gotta run but I will be back to visit you later. I have to punch the clock now...

Later...
