He does have fewer turnovers, but he also passes significantly less. Still, I agree he is the better player. Ultimately what will seperate the two is how Jefferson will play on a good team with better teammates. That is, do you guys think that Jefferson makes the players around him better? I don't think anyone would argue that Randolph does, but I'm not sure Jefferson does...

Hmmm, I am really off-topic.

I'm definitely not denying that Al needs to learn how to pass out of the post a hell of a lot better, but he's certainly not as much of a black hole as Randolph.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

I'm hoping that getting a guy like Flynn that can break down a defense and get Al some easier shots will make Al more willing to be patient and passing the ball back out and let somebody create for him instead of felling like he has to go Dance Dance Revolution on people every time he gets the ball.

The guy still hasn't played with a consistent perimeter threat in his time here. I'm willing to give him a bit of time before permanently slapping him with the black hole label

I have always been irked by anyone that compares Zach Randolph and Al Jefferson because they have somewhat simular raw numbers. If you look even the smallest bit deeper then their raw production you can see they are quite different.

Al Jefferson is a team first guy who is trying to carry too much of a load on a team that doesn't have enough help on hand for him to play anyother way. He was too passive offensively in Boston for his own good at times to the point that Paul Pierce had to tell him to knock it off and just go out and play his game at which time he instintly became a 20/11 guy and the team had to hide him and Pierce behind questionable injuries to avoid losing ping pong balls until they had locked up the #2 worst record at which time Jefferson was magically healed overnight.

Zach Randolph is a stats guy who goes out and tries to get his regardless of what his team might actually require from him depending on the talent around him. This is why the Blazers gave him away once they got a real GM in place because he was getting in the way of the development of the youth on that roster.

In 175 fewer games and nearly 6,000 fewer minutes Al Jefferson has only 3.4 fewer win shares then Zach Randolph and a higher offensive rating and lower defensive rating. One of them is viewed by GM's around the league as a building block on a bargain contract and one is viewed as a cancer with one of the worst contracts in basketball.

One of them was good enough to be the main piece of a deal to aquire a first ballot hall of famer in Kevin Garnett and the other has been traded for garbage four times in under three years.
