One more thing to add if you guys wanted Lebron so badly why didnt you trade for him which i did earlier in the game, both Boston and Orlando(2 teams i know are gunning for lebron) could of traded for him at the beginning of the game you both had the assets to do so.

I don't think either team did. You traded Kobe for him. The Magic would have had to trade Howard, and I would have had to trade Rondo, Allen, Pierce, and KG (still might not have been enough though). I also would have had no hope of keeping LeBron because my team would have been awful afterwards.

bringbackhoffa there's a reason why you got LeBron, you traded Kobe and Bynum for him. There is a reason why i have Kobe. I traded JJ, KG and Pau. I mean come on they are by far the top 2 players in the game and we payed a lot to get him, not as if Boston or Orlando would be willing to pay that much to get him at that time :)

We had all the time and opportunities to build a team around them and retain them at the FA, i don't see ppl making arguments why Kobe should go to their teams, and i honestly don't know why you should get into the discussion about LeBron. You will either keep him or get a very good return for him in a s&t i doubt the end of the FA will be different than that.

Bryant as long as the discussion stay in this thread i don't see any problem, the problem is if it goes to other threads.

I'm saying Lebron is going to a big market.

Here are the top 10 markets
1 New York
2 Los Angeles
3 Chicago
4 Philadelphia
5 Dallas-Ft. Worth
6 San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose
7 Boston
8 Atlanta
9 Washington, DC
10 Houston

Do you guys really think Lebron cares all that much about who is around him? As long as its a halfway decent team he'll win. Cleveland minus lebron is the worst team in the league. They are even worse than Sacramento last year. Yet Lebron took them to conference finals.

Lebron stated he wants to be the first athlete billionare. We all know that he is in love with himself and wants fame/glory. He's not getting that at some small market in which he'll get limited exposure and a small fan base.

Unless its personal reasons, Lebron is going to a big market...nothing sort of a top 10 market at the very least.

And veto Wade for Lebron? Wade is older, but again, the choice isn't LAL's. It's Lebrons. LAL takes the best offer possible simply because Lebron is going to go wherever he wants. Every single team in the league wants lebron. If he says he's going somewhere, chances are, he's going to that city/team.

We are all Lebron's b*tch

LMAO at LeBron leaving $30mil on the table. It's not like he won't sign an extension in year 4 of a 5 year contract.

and

bryant08 it's not like we have much else to discuss ATM so...

as well i offer him 10.5% increases, as well am the only team that can offer him 2 years of early termiantion just like Kobe had in his contract so he can decide whenevr he wants to opt out.

and when i said 30M i was going by the NBA's current salary cap here were the options that were presented to Dwade
1) If Wade opted out in the summer of 2010 and signed a maximum salary with another team, his salary would go thusly
2009/10 - $15,779,912 (last year of current contract)-- Plays with the Heat
2010/11 - $16,568,908
2011/12 - $17,894,420
2012/13 - $19,219,933
2013/14 - $20,545,445
2014/15 - $21,870,958

Total: $111,879,576 over 6 years.

2) If Wade opted out in the summer of 2010 and re-signed with the Heat to a maximum contract, his salary would go thusly:

2009/10 - $15,779,912 (last year of current contract)--played with the heat
2010/11 - $16,568,908
2011/12 - $18,308,643
2012/13 - $20,048,378
2013/14 - $21,788,113
2014/15 - $23,527,849
2015/16 - $25,267,584

Total: $141,289,387 over 7 years.

ok so it is less then 30M but theres no guarantee with the current cap going down and a new CBA being introduced in 2011 that he would be able to make 25M in 2015, thats my point

or he will sign with one of the teams that cleared cap space in anticipation of signing him.

I will be fine with him signing to any of the teams that worked to make it a possibility. I will not be fine with a S&T unless it is a homerun for LeBron.

Here are tv Market sizes

1. New York City, New York
2. Los Angeles, California
3. Chicago, Illinois
4. San Francisco, California
5. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
6. Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas
7. Washington, District of Columbia
8. Boston, Massachusetts
9. Miami, Florida
10. Detroit, Michigan
11. Houston, Texas
12. Phoenix, Arizona
14. Minneapolis, Minnesota
15. Cleveland, Ohio
16. Sacramento, California
18. Denver, Colorado
21. Atlanta, Georgia
23. Orlando, Florida
24. Indianapolis, Indiana
25. Portland, Oregon
28. San Antonio, Texas
29. Milwaukee, Wisconsin
30. Salt Lake City, Utah
32. Charlotte, North Carolina
36. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
39. New Orleans, Louisiana
48. Memphis, Tennessee

Sacramento is a bigger market than Orlando...Lebron isn't going to a small market.

What global superstar has ever played in Orlando that chose to stay there?
The same goes for Milwaukee and Charlotte and New Orleans and Memphis and etc. etc.

Lebron is a global icon. He will go somewhere where the entire world will watch him play. It's just that simple.

So winning a championship in either LA, Miami, Indiana, or Detroit wouldnt be a homerun... I would of loved to have kept Gasol here but having a team salary of 90M+ is just not viewed that great by other GMs.. and having Nash/Hedo/Lebron/Jamison/Mystery Free Agent along with 4 great pieces off the bench is a really good contending team, as well i beliece i have drafted the next dirk with my second round selection of Tim Ohlbrecht ;)

Chicago GM: I see you have a great market and in case Lebron does not want to sign here In LA (which i doubt cause i have a great city/team) send me a meaningful offer and perhaps we can get something done where Lebron is happy the most because at the end thats all that matters

Hate to break it to ya but Market size is only a portion of what a FA looks for.

Top 5 FA destinations are...

1. LA Lakers
2. Miami Heat
3. Phoenix Suns
4. Houston Rockets
5. Orlando Magic

Andre Miller
Andre Iguodala both being shopped!

I'd like an upgrade at the pg spot and downgrade at SG

In real life? What the hell are you talking about?

How is Houston and Orlando anywhere on that list.

Who has Orlando ever signed? Lewis? By overpaying him and giving him one of the largest contracts ever? Every major player Orlando has ever drafted has ended up leaving Orlando....that isn't really a sign of players "wanting to be there."

prime T-Mac and Grant Hill in the same season ring a bell?

Unfortunately for them Hill's career took a major nose dive after his foot issues surfaced.

and no I didn't just randomly make up that list.
