Atlanta guilty of worst offseason trade

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Wed Sep 26, 2007 2:12 pm

The Houston Texans getting QB Matt Schaub from Atlanta qualifies as an even more profound example of highway robbery.

The Texans are 2-1 heading into Sunday's game in Atlanta. Schaub, who backed up Michael Vick for three seasons, is leading the charge.

The Falcons are 0-3 with Joey Harrington replacing Vick this season and can't get Byron Leftwich coached up soon enough, although Leftwich isn't likely to help Atlanta's anemic ground game. Minus Vick, the Falcons have yet to rush for 100 yards as a team.

The media is ripping into Atlanta over this. The fact is we have Vick

I really don't get how this reflects THAT negatively on the franchise or the trade?

Was the Organization supposed to be able to peer into the future and imagine Vick could be this stupid?

The media acts like it was Schaub for free. Schaub has a top wr on that team, something atlanta does not have. The line is suffering from what Mora did do it. He wanted a very athletic line, not a big line. As a result you don't have the big o-line men who can block for a team trying to become more balanced. An athletic line is good for being qucik, not for blocking pass rushers or blitzing people. I get tired of telling people let's wait until after next season's draft before everyone says it was a horrible trade. I am quire sure that Schaub with our horrible line and no Blalock, we would be in the same ship we are now.

The media are morons as usual. Schaub is a good QB but Vick was better and there was no way to know this was going to happen at the time. In fact, at the time many said that the trade was tilted in the Falcons favor.

Schaub is good, but i don't think he is that much better or worst than Leftwich or Harrington, which the Falcons pretty much got for free.

so actually, i think the Falcons got so nice draft picks for free.
