Chase Birdinger discussion thread

Post#1 » by Guy986 » Thu Jul 23, 2009 11:34 am

Golden State has Magic "Wilt Chamberlain" Randolph. Miami's got Michael "HOF" Beasly. I figured we needed our own Realgm human hype machine. I dont think Chase can shoot 68% from the field and 73% from 3 point line once the real season starts but is 65% from beyond the arc too much to ask??

Chase made Realgm's All Summer league team.

Chase Buddinger, HOU - Buddinger shot a ridiculously efficient 68% from the field, while averaging 17.8 ppg and hitting 8 of his 11 three-point attempts. If he proves he can handle himself defensively, don't be surprised to see Buddinger crack the rotation immediately.

He also happened to be this year's most efficient rookie in the SL. I dont know what .810 TS% means but i like it!

I wish Dallas had bought a early 2nd pick. I knew he was going to be a good SG, a player like him is exactly what we need at the 2 athletic, and can shoot.

He's an exciting prospect, but let's not jump to conclusions. Let's see if Chase "Bird" Budinger can play defense in a real game. If not, THEN we can definitely name him after Larry Legend. :D

Funny, I thought we already had David "Dream" Anderson on our team. Not to mention Aaron "Way Better than Iverson" Brooks, Carl "The Real Superman" Landry, and Tracy "Michael Jordan took my name before I was born so I'll settle for this one instead" McGrady.

But, yeah, let's go with Chase Birdinger. I'm a fan!

If Birdinger doesn't pan out, we'll just act like this is a joke thread. If he becomes the GOAT, we'll look like bloody geniuses. Win win situation IMO....

NBADraft.net put "Birdinger" as the 3rd best rookie in the summer league. Here is the link:
http://www.nbadraft.net/node/9777

3. Chase Budinger - Houston / 17.8ppg, 2rpg, 0.8apg, 1stl, 68fg%

Budinger slipped in the draft all the way to the 44th pick overall after many projected him to fall somewhere in the 1st round. During the last ten days, Budinger played like should have gone in the 1st round by scoring at a better rate than anyone in Vegas. In just 22 minutes a game he averaged nearly 18 points. He rarely missed a shot, connecting on 68.1 % from the field, and a ridiculous 72.7% from beyond the arc. Houston coach Rick Adelman likes defensive type players, but Budinger can earn minutes on any roster if he continues to shoot like he did in Vegas.

David Thorpe put him in "The Best of the Rest" (ESPN Insider)

http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/insider/ ... ngs-090722

Chase Budinger, Rockets
The comparisons to Adam Morrison (all offense, no defense) are missing one huge factor: Budinger is a purer shooter than Ammo was coming out of college. Budinger shot incredibly well all week in Vegas and made the best argument possible that he belongs on the Rockets' roster.

Agreed, Chase shoot the ball awesome during the summer. Not sure how his floor game( rebounds, steals, assists) and defense looked.

Hey, guy986, what website did you pull those stats from?

He's not only a great shooter. He's a step above Novak. He actually has bball iq and he moves without the ball well. Needs to improve in defense strength, but at least he's quick off his feet.

If he becomes an Alcoholic, he can be Budslinger, (Or if he ever has a problem with Mary jane!)

Buttstinger, if he becomes a pain in the arse!

C-Bud is a bit soft but he had 3 coaches in 3 years at U of A, he will blow up this year and can shoot lights out
