Pacers holding out for Allen and Gidden....

Post#1 » by DWCP2 » Fri Jul 24, 2009 12:26 am

Apparently, and this is from our guy Mike Wells here in Indy, the Pacers don't want Scalabrine and are instead focused on wanting JR Giddens and Tony Allen in a return package for a Daniels sign and trade.

That would seem like an extremely odd hold out on our part, at least Scal is 6'10" and can hit 3's.

yeh this was put up in the other daniels thread...

if thats what they want, thats what they should get IMO

Tony is done here and Giddens is no loss if he never played

just get it done

Then Indiana should expect to include Brandon Rush as well.

Indiana should expect to include their promising lottery pick for doing us a favor by helping us not take on any more salary in exchange for a guy with one of the lowest basketball IQ's in the league and the 30th overall pick that Danny was shopping for most of last year?

I suppose if that's what it takes to get it done, then so be it. I expected they'd want either Giddens or Walker. There's really no incentive for them to do a sign and trade if they're not getting back at least a prospect. I'd have rather parted with Walker though, as I think Giddens has more potential.

Why add Rush when it eliminates the idea of Daniels going there in the first place?!

Does anyone else just chuckle at the concept of Danny Ainge trying to get Larry Bird to take Brian Scalabrine most likely to free up a roster spot so he can sign Robert Swift.

If Bird took on Scal I think think he would have to be hospitalized. Nothing even against Scal but how many 6'10" white guys can you have on one team? Bird would be pushing half his roster. Would Scal run the point with Dunleavy, Murphy, Foster, and Hansbrough. God Bless him.

Daniels went undrafted and Giddens was a 30th pick- Giddens could end up the better player long-term.

Well, I like Walker's aggressiveness more than I like Gidden's game - and TA cannot stay healthy for ANY period of time to make an impact---so,might as well do it.

Then, we can use the LLE for Marbury....1.9 million would make him happier than the Minimum.

I'd rather give Giddens up then Bill. Bill has more potential than JR and I like Bill better.

TA + Giddens for MD is a fair S&T

You make this trade because we are a championship contender. Otherwise, no

You do realize that Daniels avg 8.5 ppg as a 23 year old rookie on a 52 win team. Daniels was a player nobody had heard off not a McDonalds All Amercian who had been kicked off of two teams before turning lottery pick talent into a the last pick of the first round and doing nothing as a 23 year old rookie.

I am fine with Giddens but the point is I don't think draft status tells the story of the two players or could should predict much about their future success. Bottom line Giddens has a long way to go.

I'd rather give up those two than Scal. At least Scal helps us win right now.

Don't love this deal. I am glad Ainge doesn't like it either. I think the Cs want to move Pruitt. Since they have been linked to a bunch of PGs.

Cs want Allen and Pruitt??

Pacers want Allen and Giddens

I know the Cs and Daniels would prefer a sign and trade. But Will Ainge settle for the BAE?

i don't think the holdup is TA. the holdup is giddens. we'd prefer to send pruitt, or probably even walker instead.

Boston can just waive Pruitt, his contract is not guaranteed.

I think before summer league this was a no brainer but Giddens played pretty well so it may give them pause.

I don't see how Giddens has moved ahead of Walker on the depth chart.
