Trades & Contracts

Post#1 » by Parliament10 » Sat Jul 25, 2009 3:46 am

Trade Moore, Tony Allen and maybe Scalabrine.

Re-up with Marbury (1 year) and Big Baby (make him happy).

Prep next year for Rondo's renewal, as well as Ray Allen's. Ray's grossly overpaid. He's been declining for awhile. But, he's still Ray. Three years Max.

Rondo has a permanent dead-attitude. (I've met him, doing a kids clinic on the court. Some older kids asked him if he wanted to shoot around with them. He just looked at them, didn't even say a word.) But, he's one of the best PG's I've ever seen, and he's still young. Magic Johnson said that he could become the best ever. I don't know about that, but he does average almost a triple-double. And not many PG's have the rebounding (and wingspan) ability that he has.

Starters
........................
Rondo
Ray Allen
Pierce
K.G.
Perkins (Wallace?)

Backups
........................
Marbury
House
Daniels
Big Baby
Wallace

3rd Stringers
........................
Pruitt and/or Hudson in the 1
Walker and/or Giddens in the 2
Powe in the wings

Anticipate a few injuries. Powe may come in to play mid-season, with fresh legs.

Bringing the kids along may help out later. Can Pruitt and/or Hudson negate the need for Marbury?
Can Walker or Giddens be viable options for the 2 & 3? They're dirt cheap right now; on what's already the best team in 2009-2010. The Big Four are going to be Big Retired in a few years. Or, relegated to 2nd string (Wallace already is), if they can handle that. We'll need younger players (with younger legs) who have been developed.

With the re-mix money from trading Moore, T. Allen and (maybe) Scal, we should be able to make Davis and Daniels happy. And from the free-up next year from R. Allen (less pay or don't stay), we should be able to satisfy Rondo, and hopefully House, and maybe even Pruitt, if he proves to be worth it. As well as bring in whoever is needed.

Between Daniels, Big Baby, Wallace, and even Powe, and to a lesser extent, House, we've got five (5) stellar backups that can play two-positions. A team is only as good as its backups. And we've got the best second string in the league; possibly ever. Not to mention that we've got a pretty good starting package as well.

Mikki is not under contract and we can't just out right sign Moore to anything more than the bi-annual since we don't have bird rights.

I think you pretty much have a grasp on the Celtics plans. We are set basically for until the big 3break down. And as long as they don't all go at once we can probably manage with even 1 of them stil at star level as we look for our next star down the road.
