Suddenly, another power forward has become available on the unrestricted free-agent landscape -- and it could impact Allen Iverson's chances of possibly playing for the Memphis Grizzlies next season.

That power forward is Hakim Warrick, who was taken by surprise Thursday night when the Grizzlies rescinded their $3 million qualifying offer to him to give themselves more flexibility on the free-agent market.

The 27-year-old former Syracuse standout averaged 11.6 points and five rebounds last season when he shared time with Darrell Arthur at power forward, but Memphis acquired Zach Randolph earlier this summer to play that position, making Warrick both expendable and expensive.

Warrick will remain on Memphis' cap for the time being at $6.2 million -- 300 percent of his salary last season -- but the Grizzlies could move about $9 million below the cap if they formally renounce their rights to him or move him in a sign-and-trade deal.

I'd say he should get about the same kind of money as Channing Frye got from the Suns. I'd be glad to sign him for 3yrs $2 mill per, but I don't think we can afford that unless we can move out some salary, maybe if we were to move Diener but then were still talking about a s & t deal with the Celts for Daniels which is gonna add some salary too. According to how that works out there might not be roster spot.

decent fit talent wise, I would take him at a reasonable price. He can contribute in a limited role with out needing the ball in his hands. Don't know too much about his character...is he a fit in that sense?

Are you actually referring to the same Hakim Warrick?? Same kind of money as Channing Frye? Look at their production and then tell me that statement makes even a little bit of sense. Warrick is definitely worth more than Frye. He averaged nearly 12ppg and 5rpg off the bench last year and has had similar numbers every year of his career so far (except his rookie season). The comparison is way off.

He may well be worth more but I don't think he's gonna get more. Warrick played 25 min a night compared to Frye's 12 min a night so the numbers aren't that bad on a per min basis. Maybe he gets a little more money, half million first yr maybe, I'd be shocked if anyone gave him more than 3 yrs $9 million.

Gut tells me he'll be a

out of the BOS negos and
roster space issues, I hope
we can sign this guy as

like how we did Earl Watson.

^^The same draft class as Danny thing is moot, since Ike was same class as Danny and taken AHEAD of him.

But Hakim would be nice. I have no idea where he would fit, since we have Psycho-T-Murda.

I saw the story and looked for some sources to see if it were possible and found that we'd already signed Jones. I think Jones makes Hakim highly unlikely as he's a 4/3 and now we need a 3/2.

If Larry decides to shed contracts (ie. Foster, Murphy, Ford) it would be nice adding the necessary cap-space to sign a player with Warrick's versatility, primarily because the market is down and he'll be underpaid ( 3-4 mill/ 4 yrs.). Plus his age fits is in line with the young nucleus. It will be vital to have affordable established vets after 2011 otherwise we might get the number one pick the following season.

So I wasn't that far off on Warrick, 1 yr $3 million from the Bucks, not much more than Channing Frye $2 million 3 yrs. Advantage for Warrick is the short term if he makes the most out of this season maybe he can get a better contract next summer after the big rush is over.

^^ Exactly.. JAX used this method in ATL before we guaranteed him 42 mill. The key is to go to a better situation; with R. Jefferson gone Hakim will get all the minutes he can handle. If he excels he will cash in, like Jax.
