Re: Summer League 2009 - Las Vegas
Doesn't Griffin's transition into the NBA look a lot like Tucker's failed transition? Both were undersized for their position in the NBA but were passable in college. Both are now asked to play one position down from their position in college (Griffin:PF to SF, Tucker:SF to SG). Both lacked a perimeter shot that is needed in their current position in the NBA and both seem to be learning to play basketball again because their skills they picked up in college is useless with their size in the NBA.
I honestly never had any doubts that Tucker will not be anything more than a 12th man if he's even in the NBA at all, because his skill set and strengths all come when he's near the post. Outside of the post, he's completely useless.
From what I've seen of Griffin, he's going to struggle just as hard as Tucker is, trying to play more of a wing position and realizing that his strengths (rebounding, post play, power) will not be utilized in the position he will play in the NBA. Considering he was not mocked to be drafted at all by any of the popular mock drafts, his transition is likely to be just as tough, if not tougher than Tucker's.

For a minute I thought you were arguing that Blake Griffin was going to have a hard time playing PF in the league.
I was both scared and confused.
In terms of Taylor Griffin, I don't think he has the natural physical tools to play SF. He seems too stocky to me, too static.

Before my time - but there's this from wiki (edit)
Reiner played collegiately at the University of Iowa, where he led the Big Ten Conference in rebounding as a junior. His senior season was cut short due to a misdiagnosed foot injury which resulted in a season-ending surgery.
Reiner went undrafted and signed with the Chicago Bulls in 2004-05. He played sparingly as a back-up center but started two games. In 19 games for the Bulls, he averaged 1.1 points and two rebounds per game.
In 2005-06, Reiner went to camp with the Los Angeles Clippers and - in his own words - "was released on the tarmac" at the end of training camp.[1]Claimed off of waivers by the Phoenix Suns, his season ended with a knee injury, however, and he had surgery in January 2006, being released shortly after without making a single appearance.
Reiner played on the 2006 summer league team for the Seattle SuperSonics, then went to training camp with the San Antonio Spurs; yet, he was waived again, on October 20, 2006. Reiner then played for the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA's Development League, averaging 13.9 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists, being was voted to the D-League All-Star Game. He was also voted to All D-League Second Team.
On February 8, 2007, Reiner signed a 10-day contract with the Milwaukee Bucks, being signed until the end of the season on March 1st.[2]On July 24, he moved to Spain with his wife and signed with Polaris World Murcia, in the Spanish first division.[3]
During 2008-09's pre-season, Reiner appeared for the Philadelphia 76ers, but was again waived prior to the season's tip-off.[4] Shortly after Reiner signed for BBL club Eisbären Bremerhaven, his current team.

Well, it's the sort of thing that once you start, you just can't put it down.
