Ariza was signed with an injury exception not a MLE exception so that whole Ariza/Artest thing is moot. Houston still has their MLE to use if they want.

The are the Lakers competition, why would they want LA to have one to use to get better?

Which it still won't be easy because the question is that which team will appect that package because there are not many that will.

ignoring all the sign n trade and contract stuff, sessions is a career 22% 3pt shooter. he'd be a horrible fit.

true but his career has been only what 2 years? And how bad of a shooter was ariza before he came here?

Lakers aren't that desperate at point but could use an upgrade. They make a move before the trading deadline.

Only if Farmar is not doing as expected.

Not to mention the fact that the trade wouldn't work straight up and other players would have to be involved.

very content with our PG rotation, since we added Shannon, but when opportunity presents itself to get better @ any position, I'm all for it. .

With so many teams wanting to get rid of contracts for next year off season that package of expirings could bring at least a decent fit.

Maybe Farmer steps up, Maybe Fish has a little bit left in the tank, but wouldn't you feel more comfortable with a 3rd option. Especially in the west where you face : D. Williams, C. Paul, TP, Nash.

For this years MLE money, Lakers could not get a PG much better than Fish, Farm, or Brown and we certainly don't NEED (4) Pg's on the Roster (that is why I don't think Sun Yu will be back).

With Farmer's and Fishers contracts ending after next season, it makes more sense to use next years MLE for a PG!

One Love wrote:Shannon Brown will get minutes at the point guard position... The triangle doesn't require a pure point guard... We need a guy who can play defense, move the rock and hit open threes (corner often) and he fits that mold ala B Shaw & Harp... Artest, Kobe & LO (assuming we sign him) can bring the ball up and set up the offense...

In my opinion, Shannon will BLOSSOM next year with an offseason under his belt... He will exceeds EVERYBODY'S expectations... I will be surprised if he isn't the first guard off of the bench by the middle of next year...

I agree 100% there because I know Farmar will start the season strong then hit the wall mid january again

I'm really happy with the team with Artest providing we get Odom back, so no, I'm not disappointed.

Having said that, I will be disappointed if we're not stronger at PG after next summer.

I'm not disappointed yet. But if at the trade deadline it's still not addressed...then I'll be disappointed. If Morrison plays like he did in the summer league and with a big expiring contract, he should have some real value.

I'm disappointed that we couldn't work out a sign and trade like Toronto did we could keep the mid level exception if LO leaves

Its nice to have a back up plan...

Its LO or bust

----------

You could also use the midlevel to resign AI and then trade him to a team under the cap for a draft pick or something like that
