If Miami signs Odom....

Post#1 » by Da110n0rcutt » Sun Jul 26, 2009 6:49 am

Do you think they will try hard for Boozer to make a run at a championship....? Or will that be the end of Boozer to Miami talks...?

If they do want Boozer...would they do this trade, because I feel we come out pretty well if we can pull this off...

Miami gets Carlos Boozer

Utah gets Michael Beasley, Daequan Cook, and James Jones

With a depth of...

Williams/Price/Maynor
Cook/Miles/Korver
Brewer/Kirilenko/Jones
Millsap/Beasley
Okur/Koufos/Fesenko

If we really can't get anything back of this caliber of a trade I don't think we should trade Boozer...and not that I like Boozer in any way cause I dislike him as much as the next Jazz fan, but if we are trading him away and he helps some other team get closer to a championship...wait don't we want a championship and wouldn't Boozer who is a two time all-star power forward in a power forward driven system help us get closer to a championship when healthy. I mean I like what the FO is saying by coming out publicly saying we aren't just going to give Carlos away for cap space...so I think unless we don't get a deal that just blows us out of the water then I think we do give it one more run with this core, and really I am happy about that because then we know this franchise is trying for a championship, and not just trying to remain competative...sure they have made few mistakes in the past and maybe a huge one is the Marion for Kirilenko trade a couple years back. Having said all this I bet there is a 60% chance or higher Carlos Boozer is the Utah Jazz starting power forward this season.

I don't see the point of keeping Boozer here if he doesn't even want to be here and neither does anyone else want him here. It completely brings down his game physically and mentally. It's just a never ending cycle of drama and it brings everyone down.

I've always been a Boozer fan but it's gotten to the point where I can't stand it anymore. He's all about himself and that's it. We need DEFENSE.

Because it is a contract year and he has A LOT to prove. There is no way he doesn't work his butt off to prove to everyone in the league that A) He's healthy B) He's an all-star and C) He's worth 12-15 million a year. I think he knows that even with a good season the Jazz aren't going to offer that kind of money so he would rather go elsewhere and sign an extension. But it is a contract year so he has to play well.

Odom will probably play as a PF, so they wouldn't need Boozer anymore.

I disagree wholeheartedly... Miami is only attempting to sign Odom because their main goal is to keep Wade and resign him this year. Wade has stated if the organization is willing to bring in players to win that he will stay. So if Odom signs and Wade goes to the FO and says bring in Boozer and I dont care how you do it (with an agreement that Wade re-ups long term after bringing in Boozer) that makes everyone on Miamis roster available to the Jazz.

Also remember Miami was not all the high on Beasley before they drafted him. Pat Rieley didn't have great things to say about him.

I think they'll go after Boozer regardless of what happens with Odom. Otherwise Wade will become a FA next summer. I think they are absolutely desperate, and the Jazz will take advantage.

It'd be nice to finally have the jazz as the ones that can exploit a desperate team.

I for one would love to Odom go back to the East. Not to say the Lakers wouldn't still be the favorites but Odom seems to play like a beast against the Jazz, especially the last two playoff series.

Wade is the future of miami and IF wade would rather have boozer and odom over beasley, then beasley is expendable.

If Odom goes to Miami......that would be awesome. Make an Eastern conference team better and make the Lakers much, much worse.

Well, if Miami does get Odom, If I were Miami, I'd be willing to give up Beasely for Boozer. But, I really doubt they'd do that. Boozer is always injured.

think about this...

Odom signing is taking an extraordinary long time, right?

Heres my theory, Miami already have signed Odom to a verbal agreement (I think I read he said he'd have everything sorted by today, so why no announcement?), and are now in negotiations with the Jazz about a Beasley for Boozer switch. Since they'd have Odom tied up and if Boozer will sign for anyone in 2010 its Miami, theres no space for Beasley. Its been reported that our asking price has been Beasley and Haslem. Maybe through Miami's excitement we get both for Boozer. They then announce them both at the same time, same press conference. Can you imagine the media buzz around that? And then Wade announces he will sign an extension with the Heat.

I know Heat fans may say I'm loony, but think how much of an impact that will have on both franchises, I think everyone involved would be happy.

The Miami situation is a little hard to figure. Living in Miami, I see most all of the Heat games. I don't sense good chemistry between Wade and Beasley. As a megastar, I think Wade expects his teammates to defer him to an extent, and Beasley doesn't defer to anyone. Also, Beasley is looking to be mostly a perimeter shooter ... albeit a good one. If he were to go to Milwaukee, for example, I think Beasley would be a 26 and 10 guy next season. I also don't think Milwaukee would be a very good team.

The Boozer/Odom/Wade thing could work well for the Heat. I just don't see it happening. I strongly believe that Odom will sign on with the Lakers again and the Boozer will play for the Jazz this season, although I certainly didn't feel that way a week ago.

You really think that Beasley is a 20/10 guy!?!

They are few and far apart, my friend.
