:violin: I :dontknow: whether to :banghead: or :waaa: or  about this.

Bedard is turning into one of the biggest pr*ck teases that I can recall as a Seattle sports' fan. Even if there is no ill intent to what he's doing, he's nonetheless coming off as a royal diva/drama queen.

Doesn't he at least feel he owes the fans here something of a heartfelt account of what's going on with him? Is he that oblivious to the circumstances that brought him here, and the expectations of performance that the organization and the fans had of him? Can't he find it within himself to at least be a human being about it? Why is this guy so dead-set on giving people the impression that he doesn't care about the fortunes of the team, that it's all about him? He absolutely refuses to give the fans anything that they can empathize with about him.

It's hard not to think of him as anything other than a d*ck. And that's squarely on him.

That's a misleading article...you have the GM and manager saying they think something's horribly wrong with Bedard, basically telling us he's not healthy. The language about Bedard not being traded comes from the columnist, who makes the point that given Bedard's performances and health issues, he's worth very little on the trade market.

We can't even trade him anyway...at least not until he comes off the DL and passes through the appropriate waivers.

He has little value to us if he leaves in free agency so why not just get a prospect. Someone will take a shot at him. Bedard should be a golfer or a bowler because he has zero intensity in a team sport. If one deal can set a franchise back it was this one.

On a differant note i think our outfield for the future is set and we found some nice bullpen pieces this season. A winning attitude will help going forward and there is help coming up through the minors. All is not lost.

I think so too, which is why I found the reference in this article strange. It says the M's asked the Yankees for Melky Cabrera and Brett Gardner for Washburn. Since the M's definitely aren't shopping for outfielders, Cabrera is finally living up to his potential this year and Gardner is also a more-than-useful piece, I'm thinking that if the M's asked for those two, it was a not-so-subtle way of saying "go away."

Bear in mind, that article was written by Bob Klapisch, who generally isn't aware of the needs of any teams other than the Yankees and Mets, and possibly isn't even aware of the existence of players like Washburn until they hit the trade market and the Yankees or Mets show interest.

My recollection was that last year at this time those names came up for Wash, doubt it was brought up this year.
