Big Baby for Yi

Post#1 » by armageddon » Mon Jul 27, 2009 3:42 am

Do you like this trade? Do you feel its a fair trade straight up?

I'm all for it considering similar games yet much better height (although equivalent rebounding). Yi will probably be likely to stick around down the road. I've been a Yi fan since the draft.

If we were playing a team of folding chairs, Yi would dominate.

Otherwise, I will stick with BBD.

Danny wants Yi and the Nets want to send Najera, but it could end up being someone else as there are many contracts that can match up to Davis. I heard if it was Najera then we would also recieve a first round pick also, which is good for down the road.
Many of us would have taken Powe over Davis if not for the injury, and this could be a good move to let us sign Powe later in the season. I just hope we get a decent return for Davis if Ainge elects to send him there.

Najera's contract looks like this: $2,800,000 & $2,600,000. Not bad (if the pick is included) if Najera has the legs to play the 3 spot as well as the 4.

I am a fan of this trade.....considering we have Wallace....but think Yi is a lil skinny, he is already backing KG who can be bodied around a bit....perhaps we can sign Powe up, get a PF banger for the second half of the season....

Joe,

We also brought Mike Sweetney and Robert Swift to summer league, either of those guys is going to be hard to move around

It may be that Davis is requiring a S&T now that his minutes have disappeared. Third string PF, debatable sf ability, decent backup center. If we could only do a one year contract, I'd guess that he would become a UFA (lazy guess) next year? So for us, the S&T may be the only choice.
Yi's salary is around 3 mil next year, 4 after that and 5.4 again.
Is Najera and a future 1st worth BBD? Najera isn't of any use and will the pick end up as good as BBD or as good as Yi?
I'd like to keep BBD but if we can't, Yi is a good alternative.

I know Alston has beef with Eddie house, but, wouldn't he be more valueable to the team than Yi. You guys do need a backup PG..

no way to alston, much rather see starbury come back.

hopefully we can keep bbd because yi is too soft.

Hell no. Alston was garbage for most of the playoffs.

Question is when Davis signs his 5-yr contract, will he get soft. It's not like he plays physical every game.
Another Q is - does DA and Doc feel that Swift can play backup center equivalent to Davis. And with Sheed playing some center, we are only talking about 5-10 minutes a game. If the answer is yes or at least they feel its worth trying, then Davis has almost no role on this team.

This is the worst thing I have ever heard, NO F----------- WAY !

Baby is the better player, plus I hate to see this board get flooded by chinese/asians like the rockets board, soon you'll see chinese taking over the celtics just like they did to the cavs, hell no !

Hasn't Sweetney signed elsewhere?

I had forgotten about Swift
