COULD BENO BECOME A SPUR SOON? (Unconfirmed)

Post#1 » by dozencousins » Tue Jul 28, 2009 8:01 am

According to hoopsworld.com Tony Parker has a couple of injuries the one the SPURS are more concerned about is his ankle if this is the case i say we offer BENO to the SPURS for an expiring and a 2nd round pick !

What thoughts do you all have on this ?

The Beno/Spurs ship has departed a while ago.

Besides, there is no way the Spurs (or any team in general would offer us an expiring for Beno's longterm contract)

Well it may or may not happen that said if the SPURS need the pg and if PARKER is out long enough it makes sense for 2 reasons

1. though BENO isnt a great starter he can start & would be better than most availably point guards with experience out there .
&
2. because he is familur with half of the team including head coach & organization

there are many players ala DEREK FISHER just to name 1 of many who played for a team & was still early enough in his career to be a factor on his team he once played for .

Keep in mind when BENO was a SPUR he never recieved much playing time to make an impact for the SPURS

the deal may never happen but it is possible and not so unrealistic !

No, it's not, the Spurs aren't known for dumb moves. Try the Grizzlies or the Bobcats. And the title is misleading.

Hahaha, yeah, not a freaking chance. If Evans starts right away, Beno is the new Kenny Thomas.

LOL. Actually huge LOL.

Beno must have one of the worst contracts in the league right now. Spurs would rather start Hill.

The title should be changed.

That would be magical, but it would never happen. Hence 'magic'

This should be changed from "unconfirmed" to "wild speculation"

never in a million years. hes not our problem anymore.

and even if parkers reported ankle sprain is something worse, hill with get the starting nod (as he did last season and performed very well during), with manu handling some of the on-ball duties.

I think this thread begs the question, where could Beno realistically be traded? And for whom or what?

The only realistic options IMO are the Knicks (as a backup or better fit at starter?), the Rockets (I think Rick would like Beno, only if the realization is Brooks ain't a PG), Dallas (if JKidd starts looking old or breaks down), Clippers (expensive ass backup but we know they like him), and the Lakers (Fishers got to wind it down someday, I think Beno is a perfect fit myself).

Now for what:

Knicks - Jeffries or a bigger deal involving Curry.
Rockets - Hayes and Cook.
Dallas - Humphries and Carrol or Williams.
Clippers - Telfair and Ricky Davis or Madsen or Smith.
Lakers - Morrison or Walton.

Maybe for Curry if they want to save a few million more for 2010.
SacKingZZZ wrote:Rockets - Hayes and Cook.

No way they do this.
SacKingZZZ wrote:Dallas - Humphries and Carrol or Williams.

For Carroll probably, but I'd rather keep Udrih. Not for an expiring.
SacKingZZZ wrote:Clippers - Telfair and Ricky Davis or Madsen or Smith.

The only way I see the Clippers interested is in a bigger trade (with Garcia or Nocioni) for Baron Davis.
SacKingZZZ wrote:Lakers - Morrison or Walton.

For Walton probably, but I prefer Beno. No way they give an expiring.

Other ideas:
76ers - Udrih+Thomas for Dalembert+Green
Bobcats - for Mohammed or Diop if they don't resign Felton

Back when Udirh had a 1 year 1 million dollar contract the Spurs paid the Wolves to take him. You think they want him back now?

The Spurs also waived Scola; think they'd want him back now?

Of course none of this matters since Spurs management isn't full of morons--which is what they'd have to be to take on Udrih at this point.

I'm just going to go ahead and lock this. I think we all know this isn't a worthy discussion and I can't see anything productive coming of it.
