Powe?

Post#1 » by Amon_Ones88 » Mon Jul 27, 2009 5:15 pm

How would we feel about Powe on our team...He is going to be out until the last month of the season I think. At first I thought it was kinda dumb, but the more I thought about it it makes a lot of sense. I thought we could clearly get him for very cheap, and from what I heard his only offer was from us and the kings and since they have gooden now its just us. So he comes cheap, rehabs all year and we get a fresh Powe for the playoffs when we need him. Lets face it we are gonna win between 50 and 65 games so the only time we need him is playoffs. I think it is an awesome idea. What do you guys think?

Potentially low-risk, high reward. I suggested a 3 year contract for the vets minimum of approx 1.5 million with a team option for the 3rd year. Powe is a hustle, defense, and rebounding guy that would not need to establish the rhythum that a shooter would.

I am all for it and I wouldnt rush him back. The other thing is most of these guys come back with a better jumpshot because they arent mobile and usually work on their set shot until their knee comes back full strength. I think this would be great pickup.

Im all for Powe on the team as well. Hes kind of a security net. Sign Powe and let him rehab, hell be back when hes back, no rush. However with our BAE, lets go after Hakim Warrick, or Diogu, last resort Joe Smith or another proven vet. I think Varejo will start at the 4 and will be fine. We need to go after players with a high ceiling, this way they can develop and were building around LeBron. This team is going to be explosive.

Well, reports are that we're talking to him..I just remember this guy killing us in Boston when KG was out and I like him as a depth signing for when his knee is healthy.

I like him.

I don't think we can get either of them with the BAE.

I've like Powe since he was drafted, he was a great college player before the injuries. I would love to see him rehab and then play here. He is the kind of hard nosed player we have not had in a long time. I would highly doubt he would sign for three years though, not for the vet minimum or even the base exception. Two years would be best at the bae imo, it would give him enough time with the Cavs for us to figure out if he can come back and be an effective player and not limit his earning potential if he can.

All that, AND he can still shoot a decent mid ranged shot and space the floor a bit, play center and power forward. Just depends on if he can rehab properly, and he isn't going to be out till last month of the season, should be back by Jan. Great pick up if we do get him, 3 years at vet min or 2 years at LLE sounds decent enough.

Powe would be a great addition to the Cavs. He's a tough guy that can play multiple positions and won't be someone that will wilt come playoff time. And because of the injury will likely be able to be had for cheap.
