Reasons to be Cheerful: A Positive Suns Season Preview

Post#1 » by JohnVancouver » Tue Jul 28, 2009 6:00 pm

Despite the fact he gets a number of things not-quite-right as regards the Fall of the Suns, here is the only optimistic Suns preview I've seen (outside of certain parties on this board.)

My first thought after reading that giggly gleeful "fan submitted" article is that Kerr has too much free time on his hands...

I just wish RoLo would stop being so ridiculously bad. If he comes out even decent next season, I think the Suns win 50 games, maybe more. We can make the playoffs regardless of how he plays I think, but it would help to have a somewhat reliable center.

we need big seasons from RoLo and Dragic, anything less you can add it to the list of PHX busts.

9 pts 5 ast from Dragic and 5-7 pts 7-8 rebs for Rolo would be good enough for me. I think Dragic will meet that mark. Lopez...

I'll go with 7 and 3.5asst 3.5reb for Dragic

5pts 4.5reb 1blk for Lopez

Dragic has more upside...which is rather sad

I hope with the extra PT, Lopez could really come out this season. I think Dragic will be fine, he just needs the confidence.

Who would he fall out of the rotation for? The only person big and tough enough to play center on our roster is the Gorilla.

We're going to have Lou/Amare/Fry and maybe Clark as make-do centers when Rolo inevitably get into foul trouble.

Here is a reason to be cheerful : How many times does R. Lopez get dunked on this season; if he plays quality minutes - bonus points (well go back to this thread if it does happen in the future) ; what players will make him famous on youtube?

The two keys, unequivocally, are Dudley and Clark.

Dudley has the potential to be our Raja Bell. He hustles his ass off, is competent on offense, and is not too shabby on D either.

If Clark can be a contributor this year, it'll be huge. He's got the size and versatility that we sorely miss from Diaw and Marion.

Think about it, it's tough to do our run and gun without guys creating mismatches and a tough perimeter defender who can shoot the three ball when necessary. If we have those, anything can happen.

If Dudley becomes the MIP which I think is highly possible, and Clark comes in and plays well, we'll be more than alright.

Two keys to the season for sure.
