C's are at the end with Gabe.......

Post#1 » by Kefa461 » Wed Jul 29, 2009 11:10 am

"An NBA source confirmed yesterday the Celtics are attempting to trade Pruitt, whose option deadline is Friday. The Celtics are leaning toward not picking up Pruitt’s option, which would leave the guard free to sign with another team."

According to the article, Pruitt' option will not be picked up, he won't be included in the Daniel's trade, and it's unlikely he will be included in 3-team deal. So it looks like the Celtics don't have much leverage with using him in any deal. He may go without getting anything in return. Very un-Danny like, but if the team has other plans for backup PG and needs the roster/payroll spot open, well, thanks Gabe and good luck to you.

Nice. Maybe we can get a bag of used basketballs for him.
Reggie stood out like a sore thumb no tattoos no agenda no chirping nothing Just a guy who could score at will He played college ball at Northeastern he replaced Larry as Celtics captain he belonged to Boston.
And I still miss him. Even now.

he might still be used to get a low pay player from a team trying to save about 1M. But unless that player is going to help, I am thinking the owners will say no

This guy's problem is between the ears. All the ability to be a solid player, but was never assertive enough. Also, drinking the night before a game (personal experience, not the LA incident) doesn't earn him any respect from me.

Glad to see you're still rocking the avy

I remember you defending him on a few occasions. I agree though. If he was more assertive, he could be a productive player in this league, but that's not him. I think Lester Hudson will play that role now and do a better job, so I agree with this decision unless we can get something of value in return.

Good luck Gabe!

Yea, he looked good in Orlando about half of the time. The last day he looked like the best on the court by a landslide, but the day before it was tough to differentiate him from the rest of the D League veterans. I wouldn't be that surprised to see him put it together and make it somewhere. We just don't have the roster room to develop a ton of guys.

I wonder if this is a vote of confidence for Lester...I still like that kid, and I doubt that a broken finger will affect Danny's overall roster evaluation.

I think this is the roster spot for Lester Hudson.

I can't believe Ainge would give up on him w/o seeing what he has. We know what Gabe is, and after 2 years he's pretty far from a rotation player. Hudson can be our next PG project.

Gabe Pruitt has some value especially to a team over the luxury tax like the Celtics. The Celtics could trade him for someone making $1.0 million and the team that trades for him would just not pick up his option. This would save the team about $2.0 million in payroll when you count the luxury tax implications. The question is how many useful players are there making $1.0 million on a luxury tax team.

If the Celtics can't find a trade partner then they will just not pick his option up and save $1.65 million.

Id take Pruitt over Jason Williams at this point in his career and Tinsley is a cancer

Big Time Guess:

If Ainge can't find a multi-player deal to include Pruitt in then I think he might get traded to Milwaukee for Salim Stoudamire. Milwaukee is looking to reduce payroll and they can just cut Pruitt at no cost.

Milwaukee has already added Jodie Meeks and they seem to be pinching pennies.

Like I said, just a guess.

It's sad really. He did have all the tools to being at least a solid rotation player: a good handle, a good jumper, a knack for scoring, and a willingness to play D. All of that should have made him a great combo guard off the bench. I was higher up on him than Baby when we drafted them and by a very large margin.

Gabe's problem was he couldn't shoot, he always looked like he could shoot, had good form, but the ball just didn't go in. Maybe playing for a low pressure team like Memphis will help.

He is a nice asset until August 1st. It would be great if we could package him in a deal...Do something Danny!

I agree that he can be a rotation player. He had trouble with the pressure. He never relaxed and shooters have to believe. I think he'll do well on the next team. The Celtics are so intense and pretty much any other team is better suited for his state of mind.

We're going to regret losing him someday, IMO.
