I'm not keen on trading for a 21 year old who's already had TJ (seriously, we have enough of those  ), despite how good his stuff is. I don't want any part of a 26 year old who's value is at an all time high, projects as a #4 or #5 starter, and in my opinion will get killed in the AL East. Even Brown who's considered their best positional prospect is in A ball and is nearly 22 years old. Am I the only one who isn't infatuated with Drabek, Happ, or Brown? Top to bottom, the Phillies farm system is overrated. Don't get me wrong, I like Drabek but not as much as others considering he's only been good for half a season in AA ball. In my opinion, the real stud of the Phillies system is Taylor. He's absolutely ripping the cover off the ball in AAA and stealing bases at a very good rate as well. From everything I've read and heard about him, he's a Rios/Wells clone (which in years past would be a great compliment, not so much this year  ). I know I'm going to get ripped for this, but I'd rather have Carrasco than Happ in a deal. Carrasco's value is at an all time low and Happ's is at an all time high. Buy low, sell high. That's why I want Carrasco who was the Phillies top prospect less than 6 months ago. Knapp would be a great addition too, he's had arm problems as a starter, but in my opinion his future is in the pen.

Drabek
Taylor
Carrasco
Knapp

for Halladay is what it's gonna take. Anything less and JP can say see you later. In my opinion, we can contend with a rotation of Halladay, Romero, Marcum, Cecil, and Richmond. Snider and Arencibia have been absolutely tearing the cover off the ball lately too, so they good provide some much needed pop. Everythings going to have to go right, but if it does we can compete. That includes Wells and Rios getting back to their all star form and Hill and Lind maintaining it. As much as I hate to say it, the latter is less likely.

Carlos Carrasco, Lou Marson & Jason Donald all scratched from today's game. Please please please ... I'm hoping this post is supposed to goto the Cleveland thread and not the Jays thread....

How good of an offer would those three be?

Its looking like Lee to Phillies is what is happening as of right now.

Centerpiece appears to be Knapp, plus Carrasco and other stuff.

It pains me to see guys like Shapiro being able to scoop up guys like Jess Todd for Ryan Garko, and if this trade goes through, getting Knapp and Carrasco for Cliff Lee. This is a great trade for them.

Thats not a good trade at all IMO...trading a guy who won a Cy Young just last year and getting not even one of the Phillies top 3 prospects back. I'm a big fan of Knapp, but he's an A-ball (not even A+) pitcher who throws hard...I cant see how that is the centerpiece.

Phils get Lee.

"The Phillies have reached agreement with the Indians on a trade that would bring them left-hander Cliff Lee and outfielder Ben Francisco for Class A right-hander Jason Knapp, Class AAA right-hander Carlos Carrasco, shortstop Jason Donald and catcher Lou Marson, according to major-league sources."

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/9866 ... ans%27-Lee

Might lower the price for Halladay now..Now it is only Boston, Dodgers, Yankees and Rangers in the running..

So the Phillies are out.... I still pray that the Dodgers will deal Kershaw to us for Halladay seeing that another NL team has made a big move (not going to happen but still). I think it looks more likely that the Red Sox will be the ones to walk away with Halladay.

The Dodgers aren't dealing Kershaw, period...and I dont blame them, I wouldn't trade him for Halladay either. There is a slim slim chance we could maybe get Billingsley out of them but I doubt it, and apart from that they really dont have enough in the minors to make a worthwhile deal. They aren't very good trading partners.

You wouldn't trade Kershaw (if you were the Dodgers GM) for Halladay if it came down to it? Are you nuts?

If it wasn't the Phillies, a Lee deal would have been good for Roy's value. But they are the only team that really needed a front end guy. I'm expecting Roy to still be here in 4 days, now.

No, I wouldn't. Kershaw is near dominating right now and will be one of the best pitchers in the game as early as next season (he's already almost there). The Dodgers control him for several seasons at peanuts compared to what a guy like Halladay is making. If he was currently on the roster and struggling you could argue that theres no time waiting for him to develop, but the kid is a sub 3.00 ERA pitcher NOW and apart from walks he is blowing past people (.203 BAA, nearly a K per inning)...all this at age 21. He's going to be the face of that franchise for the next 10+ years, theres no way you can trade that away.

Just for fun:

Kershaw: 20 GS, 112.2 IP, 79 H, 63 BB, 110 K.....2.96 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, .203 BAA
Halladay: 19 GS, 141 IP, 128 H, 20 BB, 123 K......2.62 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, .243 BAA

Kershaw is a stud, the only thing keeping this kid from being one of the best pitchers in the game today is a bit of a control issue.

But LAD is not giving up Kershaw, right? However, if they were giving him up, would it be a straight up deal?
