This isn't optimism. Just reaction to a constant stream of criticism and "know it all" postings by certain members of this forum. It really gets old after a whle.

It is all pure second-guessing which we can all do. It is simple ... wait to see how things turn out and then if it turns out badly say ... "They were stupid to do that". It doesn't take much insight to do that.

I do try to ignore it for the most part but every now and again some comments are just too much for me to ignore and I just have to respond. If only to let them know that we (me at least) are not buying that load of xxxx.

Ok, so now I have vented just a little bit so I will be ok for awhile ... LOL ...

I agree completely. They will lose a few, win a few, be entertaining at times, boring at other times. Simply put, it will probably be a season very similar to the last season. When they are going good, I enjoy watching them and when they are going bad, I have other things I can do. I hope for the best and accept things as they are without trying to "fix" it. I just watch and cheer. I am a fan.

Tom,
Do we like this place?

Tom says: We like that player but will only offer the min. That player wants more.

Possible it might change, but that's what keeps happening.

Tried to gauge the level of the Sixers' interest in Sessions, but haven't heard back.

Sessions is going to be the steal of this free agent class for whoever signs him

He made the second-year minimum of $711,517 last year and is a restricted FA. Had an excellent 3-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio and has good size (6-4).

That situation in Milwaukee is interesting. They already have Brandon Jennings there, will they resign Sessions? Probably not to an extensive offer.

Is Stefanski willing to break the bank for a potential star PG in this league that fits the system?

Which is exactly the reason why he makes no sense for us. You don't keep adding pieces that don't fit long term. Funny how some people wanted nothing to do with Miller, but some of those same people would support signing Sessions for 4-5 years at the MLE. Makes no sense, since they are virtually idenitical players offensively and Miller is still clearly better and more accomplished (plus he won't require the long term deal that Sessions will).

Also, we drafted our future PG in Holiday so it would make that pick worthless. we would have been better served trading it or using it on another position. We at least have to give Lou/Holiday a shot before we start looking for an upgrade there. If they aren't working as the season porgesses, then look to move one or both for a better option, but now is not the time to spend money on someone like Sessions.

I agree completely. It is ironic, but the same people who are complaining about giving youth a chance at PG this season are the same ones who complain that we didn't give youth a chance when Brand went down last season. Go figure.

Actually, while i'm fine with giving LW/Jrue a shot, the scenarios you listed are very different. Brand went down and the FO could have easily thrown the season to the young guys with no consequence of failure-Brand was down. Now we are starting the season, everyone is supposed to be healthy, one could argue now is not the time to throw it to the youth.

but yeah, i think LW will do a better job than thought

Lou Williams on what surprised him as a pro in today's sixers.com chat: "Well, coming into the league, I would have never thought it be my fifth year before I'd get my first start, I kind of took it for granted that I would come in and be a starter right away."

Another from Williams, when asked if he's ready to be a starter: "Born ready... let's go! This is what I've been looking forward to for my career and I'm excited for the season to start."

man, its tough from thinking about the merits of Lee vs Halladay... and then go back to the Sixers reality. Luther Head vs Flip Murray... if we are lucky. Ouch.

Did you see John Schuhmann's article on espn.com today? Listed the Sixers as one of five playoff teams from last season that might not make it back in 2009-10.

Schuhmann's list included the Rockets, Pistons, Heat, Sixers and Hawks.

"The questions with the Sixers start at point guard," Schuhmann wrote. "Williams is talented, but not a true point guard, which will make things tougher for Andre Iguodala and Thaddeus Young. Further, Philly's running game won't be as potent without Miller leading the break.

"The Sixers will be getting Elton Brand back, but the questions continue there. Will the addition of Jason Kapono help give Brand the space he needs in the post, or is Brand just a bad fit with slashers like Iguodala and Young? ... A third straight trip to the postseason is not a sure thing."

I totally agree with his assessment. The Sixers are one big question mark. And, now you add in a new coach with a new offensive system, well ... it does not bode well for them.

However, Elton Brand could make all this go away. If he comes back to being the Elton Brand everyone expected, then all bets are off.

Wouldn't go that far. But Brand could make the Sixers better than they're expected to be, though it remains to be seen if he's capable of doing so or if it'll get the Sixers back to the postseason.

Why is everyone over-rating Andre Miller? This is a guy who averaged 9.1 APG with just Carmelo Anthony and god knows what else.

He dropped to 6 APG with these Sixers.

He's a shoot-first PG, Mediocre player.

It wasn't Andre Miller that carried us. It was Thad/Iggy. These two guys are the future.

Louis Williams can do EVERYTHING Miller did.

Miller is over-rated. WAY over-rated.
