The official NBA schedule isn’t expected to be released for at least a few days, but here’s a quick snapshot from somebody who has seen the preliminary sked:
– The Wolves again will open at home, Wednesday night Oct. 28 against the New Jersey Nets.
That gives David Kahn 91 days to get Ricky Rubio freed and delivered and to get this roster in some kind of competitive shape, which it certainly isn’t in now.
– They will play a New Year’s Day game at Target Center and will be home over Thanksgiving and Christmas.
– There’s 16 back-to-back sets, down from last season’s 20-something.
– The longest road trip is four games.
I’m also hearing there will be as many as 20 fewer games will be televised this season — 75 of 82 were shown last season – and many of those will be home games, a decision intended to get people to buy tickets. Last season, 35 home games were televised.

Sweet that means I get to watch the opener in HD. That sucks that less games are televised for you guys though.

Re: Some 2009/2010 Schedule Info
The NBA should do something about always sticking our back-to-backs as home/away or away/home. If we're going to have 41 away games, you'd think it makes sense to put a lot of them together rather than knocking them off one at a time. We're already traveling more than any other NBA team due to our location and conference. It puts us at a competitive disadvantage. May not matter much this year as we're likely to struggle regardless, but we should start making some noise about it so that when we are good that it's still not a problem.

Yeah I heard about the 20 fewer games thing...that SUCKS! I watch every game that I can but I am a broke college student-athlete I don't have time or money to get in and watch games live! I hope Ricky comes and starts selling tix so maybe they change their mind.

Is their strategy also to alienate all the non-local fans?

Hell no. TWENTY fewer games!? Didn't FSN already pay for a grip on games in the new deal? What the hell kind of strategy dictates that you lesson your teams exposure so you can try and sucker people into actually attending? Wouldn't that also screw over commentators like Jim Pete and Tom Hanerman?
When luck shuts the door skill comes in through the window.

Sounds like a much easier schedule this year, which is good.
