This guy has been on the team for 2 years and hasn't made a single contribution. Let him go. He has no value.

I would just as soon let him walk.

meh, if all he does is become a rotation player somewhere i don't think we'll regret anything. rotation player combo guards are a dime a dozen. hell, GS pulls one or two off the scrap heap every year.

i think Gabe was in a position in SL that he had to show that he had made a leap. while he was good at times, overall i think he looked about like an end-of-the-bench NBA guy would look in SL. that wasn't good enough. time to give Hudson a shot.

Gabe need mins to develop and that isn't happening here.

I would have assumed that Marbury was returning but it appears he is off the meds and that may be a turn off.

My vote is that if Ty Lue will take the vet min he is a Celtic.

If Ainge can't find a multi-player deal to include Pruitt in then I think he might get traded to Milwaukee for Salim Stoudamire. Milwaukee is looking to reduce payroll and they can just cut Pruitt at no cost.

Milwaukee has already added Jodie Meeks and they seem to be pinching pennies.

Like I said, just a guess.

I like it. Salim is nothing special but is probably a step up from Pruitt.

Maybe. Or maybe we can sign Lester Hudson.

I don't think Ainge wants a player back - just a 2nd round pick..

After the BBD and Daniels deals i suspect we will have room for Marbury and Hudson. Time will tell though.

We have less of a need for a backup PG with Daniels.

And Im amazed Pruitt lasted 2 years in the NBA.

Daniels is arguably less of a PG than Eddie House. He is somewhat TO prone (consistently averaging more than 2 per 36 minutes) considering that he hasn't been called on to be much of a PG and considering that his offensive efficiency (measured by TS% - a good statistical measure of points per shot attempt) has traditionally not been far outside of Antoine Walker territory (meaning he has not likely been a subject of hardcore defensive attention).

His career 1.5 Assist to TO ratio is better than Tony Allen's, but is still not at all what you want to see from someone playing PG on a team looking to cut down on turnovers. And in context, its even less impressive. Tony Allen has at least, every year he has been in the league, been a noticeably more efficient scorer than Marquis Daniels (and has even shown better shooting ability from long range). The only year where Daniels showed some promise as a PG was his rookie season when he was fighting for a spot in the league and was not heavily scouted by the opposition.

I'm not saying Daniels isn't a better fit than Tony Allen on the offensive end, but he is little more than a defensive role player in a similar mold.

That said, each of the past two seasons, a big stink is made about landing a vet PG, and then come playoffs it seems we realize that the team plays better with Eddie House @ PG. Which is why I am not huge on the prospect of putting much weight into our search for another PG.

Gabe sealed his fate in summer league.

1. Didn't run the team well. The first requirement for a PG. Bring the ball up by yourself,
get the offense going, penetrate, kick, lead the defense one way, reverse the ball another.
Just didn't move the ball well. A man without a plan. Even though he had assists, the offense didn't run well.

Still vulnerable to blind side double teams, doesn't know they're coming because he's too busy looking at his dribble instead of keeping his head up.

2. Didn't score, the second requirement for a backup PG.

Plays good D, but without 1 & 2, he'll be lucky if anyone offers something for him.

If the Celtics could have thrown him into a 3 way with Tony
(Tony going to one team, Gabe to another) with each team sending
Indiana cash or a pick, they would have.

This does not look good. The thing is, Tony Allen is a decent BACKUP SG.
He'd do pretty good on the bad teams in this league,
heck, Tony would be great in Memphis alongside OJ Mayo
(Mayo is pleading with Memphis to let him play point guard).

If Marbury's insane podcasts are any indicator- (he said he wouldn't ask Ainge for anything, admitted he was a scrub and washed up, said no team offered him a contract, said he was "done"- with basketball in general I guess?- a couple times)- then I would guess that he isn't coming back.

His podcasts border on pathetic at this point- he seems like he's completely lost it- and basically just sits at home, eats Vaseline, and listens to the "Best I Ever Had" by Drake.

Look at the brightside - those insane podcasts keep his cost low.

Nah, I think they want another vet PG. Maybe we get Lue for the min.
