One of our strategies should be to score more points. Defense is not the problem anymore. I hope Felton, DJ, GW, and Diaw get better offensively and we won't need A.I. But his scoring would help alot.

It's like when Vincent was here ... we changed our court to look more like the Phoenix Suns', we had the "Elevate" campaign, and Vincent said we would be an a running team, but really, we weren't. Then LB comes around and we're one of the slowest paced teams in the league, but now he wants to get up-and-down the court? I find it hard to believe Mek restricted us from doing that last year. Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't Okafor one of the faster centers in the league, too? It's not like New Orleans was getting up-and-down the court with Chandler. They were near the bottom of the league in pace, also.

I hope it works out for us, but what I've come away with so far as to why this makes basketball sense is that Chandler can play some back up power forward (Why not get a real backup power forward? And however limited the sample, Okafor wasn't terrible at power forward.) and that he goes crazy whenever he scores.

Technically, you can be a super slow paced team and still get a lot of points in transition. Pace= possessions per game, so you could get the rebound, try to score immediately in the break, get denied before you got a shot off and then use the remainder of the 24 seconds. Once you shot, the possession is over if you don't get the oreb, but if you do, you might still have to use all of the clock before you get a look you like/have to take.

Does that make sense?

Larry just wants the ability to run and score in transition. By having Chandler over Okafor that is definitely more of a possibility. But that doesn't mean we turn into the Suns.

Oak did hold us back from being a running team he is one of the slowest centers in the league. Oak runs the floor like he is pacing himself in an ultra marathon. He hardly even swings his arms. Chandler is one of if not the fastest center in the league. Last year when we played the hornets Chandler was constantly beating Oak down the floor and they pretty much ran us out of the gym that game.

It was a really bad trade though.

We are going to have some excellent expiring contracts the season after next with Vlad, Nazr and Chandler.
If Chandler has a good year he could become quite a valuable trade piece in his final year, hopefully we can gain out of this.

I love the Okafor trade, for all the reasons fatlever and LB himself mention.

But if you get Iverson at this point in his career, that will undermine everything.
