I think the reality here is made pretty evident by some of the statistics already posted here. A few points that have either been only breifly touched upon or overlooked:

1) Millsap is not the scorer that Boozer was, even early in his career. However, its not that far off, either. What you're missing with Millsap versus Booz is the one or two times a game that Carlos would create and convert on a difficult shot in the post. Millsap will give you everything else. He is a capable 18ppg type scorer with a few post moves and an improving mid range game. Not a go-to guy, certainly, but still pretty good.

2) At this stage in his career, Carlos Boozer was not thought of as a guy that could be a dominant low post scorer. He developed that. There is no reason why Millsap can't do the same, and he has shown a knack for converting around the hoop. If he can refine that, he can become a 20ppg type.

3) The big one: starter numbers versus reserve numbers. If you take Millsap's production as a starter and compare it to Boozer's production as a starter, the gap narrows even further. Players almost always produce better as starters than coming off the bench. I'm going on record right now saying that Millsap will put up 17 and 11 next year in 36 mpg. That is more than our money's worth at 8m per season.

While we're going on record, I'm going to reiterate my prediction that Millsap posts better total winshares than Boozer over the next four years.

Millsap is what he is, he hustles, he goes after offensive boards, he can score in transition, but that's it....... He's not going to suddenly grow another 3 inches, he's always going to be undersized, and he's always going to struggle against bigger, more talented players......

He's going to put up good stats, partly because of his hustle, and partly because of the Jazz system, but he's not going to replace Boozer........

Boozer, when healthy, which admittedly he has had a problem with, is one of the top 5 Power Forwards, Millsap even when playing his best, doesn't approach that level.......

Yes he is probably top 5 when healthy, problem is that it is only at one end of the court.

No, he's top 5 overall....... He's not good defensively, but his offense, when he's healthy is so efficient it makes up for it........

I will just agree to disagree on this one.
All I can say is that I got so tired of watching players blow by him that I wanted to kick the TV.
