I miss Ron Artest being on the Pacers....If we still had him we could of been playoff contenders for the last 2 years! I cant wait to watch him play in L.A. with Kobe.

I thought he grew up. Apparently, he hasn't.

Trust me I loved him and bought his jersey when he was a Pacer, but the man is mentally unstable. He ruined two of our seasons and severely damaged our team through the brawl and his out of no where trade demand.

Are people seriously going to make a big deal about him being late for a bus and jumping on in his underwear? Really? Of all the things athletes do, this makes a headline?

"...the third and final bus, which was reserved for business staff, sponsors and friends of the team."

If it was the team bus with the players I could see how this might be "OK", but still he can't throw a t-shirt/pants on? It wasn't though it was with business folks and SPONSORS...he's just not all there up top and in my opinion he's just a ticking time bomb before he does something dumb again and gets suspended or ruins a locker room.

I'm in no way trying to bash him and also thought he had cleaned up his act. But that dude is C R A Z Y...

This, in combination with everything else he's done in a Pacers, Kings, Bulls, and Rockets jersey makes it a headline.

In addition to the fact that he walked in on Kobe in the locker room shower (Artest was a King then, in the middle of the season, and this was not a game that the Kings played in) and told him that he would one day want to be a Laker.

he put the pacers back 5 years with the brawl. You guys could have been world champions that year.

I still think the best Artest story is when he was in Chicago and he applied for a job at Circuit City to get the employee discount.

If this were just a some regular season game, maybe you have a point, but it's GAME 7 of a pivotal playoff series. Do you want arguably your best player, barely making the bus, and running on the sponsor and owner's bus in his underwear? That's just flat-out embarrasing, and shows me how serious he's taking his NBA career.

Just for the record, how many of you wanted him back in Indiana? Just a show of hands. I remember an argument along the lines of, "he's matured now." Maturity≠sanity.

Fixed. We're still counting.

Not that I'm bitter about it.

I can see the next Michael Jordan underwear commercial now...late for the big playoff game after an all-night rap recording session, MJ makes a mad dash for the third and final team bus wearing nothing but his Hanes... [/sarcasm]

I never wanted to get rid of Artest. He is a great defensive player. I don't blame him at all for the 'brawl.' 30 years ago, it would've been no big deal. David Stern is the one who screwed us with a ridiculous suspension. Now other teams are benefiting from Artest's presence. We're still screwed.

Yeah. Ron was completely blameless in the brawl. He got a cup of water/beer thrown in his face, so it's ok for him to set off an entire riot and punch the wrong person in the face.

Seriously. This is ridiculous. I shouldn't even respond to these anymore, but come on now. Artest was suspended for the season, and rightly so. The only thing I argued with at the time, and now, is that Stern specifically mentioned that Artest was suspended for the "remainder of the regular season" and then magically we were supposed to imply that that also meant the playoffs, which are not the regular season at all.

The NBA has never seen a riot like this between fans and players. It was the players that went in the stands first, not the reverse. This sure as hell would've been a big deal 30 years ago.

Yeah, we're still a bit screwed from the riot, but you can place all that blame on Ron Artest. He ruined a championship caliber team, and ruined Reggie's best chance at a ring. The forearm punch to Rip Hamilton that ended the playoffs the year before was a great example of why Ron should've been moved. The fact that he then escalated an argument between two teams to unseen levels (other than Euro soccer riots or Asian cricket riots) had nothing to do with him being moved.

Ron Artest set this franchise 5+ years. Not David Stern. He did what he had to.
