You do realize their schedule is easier and they're actually a better team, right?? If either Lackey or Saunders would start pitching like their supposed to, that 3-game gap is going to widen pretty quickly. Texas is remarkably mediocre but has done a commendable job hanging around. I'm not convinced they're an ace pitcher away from overtaking a superior Anaheim team.
as for the carlos lee trade, not a dumb deal by any means, we gave up our crap for nelson cruz and lee and then got 2 draft picks for lee.
You know one of those "crap" pieces has over 100 saves since then, right?? Nelson Cruz was thought of the same way by Milwaukee as you think of Cordero.
and daniels is a gigantic reason why we're in such a great position to trade for halladay and are as good a team as ever heading into the future. you're crazy if you'd rather deal w/anaheim rather than texas
I never said Daniels wasn't good at drafting. I said he was terrible at trading. All the prospects Texas is offering up weren't traded for.
I'd rather deal with Anaheim, anyway. It works better with Toronto's goal of contending sooner-than-later; Weaver is superior to Holland while Aybar and Wood, while obviously not being as gifted as Smoak, play more desirable positions (SS and 3rd). Smoak is a better 1B than Aybar is a SS (although he's extremely talented in his own right), but you take the high-ceiling SS over the high-ceiling 1B everyday.
