Could Dunleavy Be Back Before January?

Post#1 » by MillerTime101 » Fri Jul 31, 2009 3:54 am

Mike Dunleavy is cutting, curling and showing off his smooth jumper again. He's also doing squats and different types of leg exercises in the weight room.

The Indiana Pacers shooting guard isn't ready to pinpoint a date for his return from right knee surgery, but he has a "gut feeling" that he'll be back sooner than the January date coach Jim O'Brien targeted last season.

"We still have a ways to go and we don't know how this thing is going to shake out, but I'm optimistic," Dunleavy said. "January is a nice cushion for me. It takes all the pressure off, but I'm certainly working my tail off to get back a lot sooner than that."

Dunleavy, an iron man through his first six seasons, appeared in 18 games last season. He had surgery to remove a bone spur from his right patellar tendon and then had the tendon repaired in Colorado in March. Dunleavy also underwent a "minor" arthroscopic procedure on his left hip last month to clean up a "long-standing injury."

Hopefully Mike returns form.

I am praying that he gets back before January, because if we go into the season with this roster we are going to need him to come back asap.

That would be awesome, but i still wouldn't count on it.
Maybe we could wait til we hear it from the doctors.

Welcome to the Pacers board, I miss Reggie. Nice username.

If Dunleavy comes back earlier than January, I will be ecstatic, but that's because I'm approaching him as if he's going to be out for the whole season, so's not to get my hopes up too high.

I agree, if he comes back that would be huge for the Pacers. His shooting would help us greatly as well as giving us more depth at the wing position.

i just want him at 100% no less. im tired of this organization pushing players out on the court when they aren't healed up. and i have a bad feeling they are doing it with danny.

I'm partly not surprised by this news; KG also had a bone spur problem and is targetting training camp. Without knowing nearly as much about his knee as Mike's I wondered if the January date wasn't a bit conservative.

I like mike and wish him well, knee pain sucks, get healthy.
