Can a team match and trade?

Post#1 » by theman » Fri Jul 31, 2009 6:06 pm

I thought of this consider Ramon Sessions but I guess it applies to Baby as well.

If a team matches an offer for their RFA can they turn around and trade him to a third team or is there a waiting period or does the player have the right to reject the trade?

It is a waiting period and the player can reject the trade...

If I am not mistaken a player can't be traded until Dec. 15, can't be traded without his consent for a full year and can't be traded to the team he signed QO with until next summer...

If Big Baby signs an offer sheet and the Celtics match then the Celtics can't trade Big Baby for a period of 1 year.
