Hakim Warrick: Perfect Fit for the Nets?

Post#1 » by Universe » Sun Jul 26, 2009 1:24 am

While Hakim Warrick is no LeBron James, he is someone who is capable of helping out with this team right now and as well as in the future.

The Grizzlies chose to rescinded their $3 million qualifying offer to Hakim Warrick, giving them more flexibility on the free-agent market resulting in Warrick being open to any team including the Nets who passed on him on draft night years ago to take future bench warmer, Antoine Wright.

Considering they have garbage PF's, yes he could be a great fit. Boy the nets have a lot of work cut out for them in the next couple of seasons. I hope the fans can tolerate it...

I like Warrick I see him being an above average player that can be our third scorer scoring 14-16-6-8. He lacks defense because he is easily push around because of his lack of weight 219 pounds. That's a shooting guards weight. He needs to gain at least 10-15 pounds of muscle weight in order for him to get more minutes and move to the next level.

I have always liked Hakim Warrick. Some people on this site hate him though. I think he'd be a solid 6 man on a lot of teams. Hopefully we can clear a roster spot in the next week or so.

Yi is going to start so I doubt we aim for anything better. With Yao out now, all China is watching Nets games which equals cash cash.

As for Warrick having no defense, we need him for purely offense off the bench. Memphis wanted him to have the complete game but there was just no way he was going to get better or gain more weight.

I like Warrick, I have always been a fan. Don't love the idea of cutting into 2010 cap space, but again, what are the chaces we use all or any of it anyway? If he comes cheap and they have a way of getting rid of Najera for an expiring I'm all for it.

I think Warrick would be a great fit on this team. He played very well when he cracked the starting lineup last year. 100% Id start him over Yi. I also think hed play great running the floor with Harris. Kidd is miles above Harris but it could be reminiscent of Kidd and Martin. I also agree with most of you that he needs to add some weight. A good 15-20 pounds would help.

I am ok with getting warrick. He would definitely fit if Frank changes the offense to up and down the court type of offense.

I actually would rather have him over Big Baby. He's a better scorer than Baby which is what we need off the bench. Warrick will likely cost less money as well. Baby is decent, but I think Boone and Baby are on the same level defensively...so play him when we need our defensive 2nd unit and sign Warrick and play him when we need the offensive 2nd unit.

Does Boston have any TPE's?

Anyone know what teams have TPE's that can take either Najera or Najera/Swat?

For those saying he needs to add 15 to 20 pounds, fahgettaboutit!
He's 27, he's been in the league 4 seasons. Maybe he will put on about 15 pounds, but it'll be gradually over like 4 more seasons.

That team is gonna be WORTHLESS this year. Warrick will be a great fantasy option though since he's likely gonna be a starter there.
