a healthy 2006-2007 lakers team

Post#1 » by chefy » Sat Aug 1, 2009 2:24 am

Mihm,brown,bynum
radman,cook,turiaf
odom,walton
kobe,evans,sasha,mckie
smush,williams,farmar

how far do you guys think we could have gone in the playoffs if we were healthy that year?

remember mihm was really a decent center before he got injured.

walton was looking like the perfect triangle SF, he improved his threepoint shooting that year. but his D was still weak.

we added vlad rad because we didnt have enough firepower in the previous year.

we added maurice evans for D (but I think he was overrated) and he gave us more than that, he was decent on offense too but he was inconsistent.

ronny and farmar was decent but we all know phil dont like rookies.

I think if we were healthy that year, if phil played/trusted farmar and turiaf more,
if we avoided the suns in the 1st round, I think we could have reach the wetern conference semifinals or even the western finals.

the only team that scared me that year was the spurs and the suns. actually we even kinda matchup well against them too, because we had brown and he was a very good 1 on 1 defender.

We got blown out by the suns in 5 games if I remember correctly.

That was a pretty terrible team.

If they just needed to get healthy to get to the WCF's, Kobe wouldn't have gone off on the Laker organization and demanded to be traded to the Bulls of all teams.

2006-07:
Mihm,brown,bynum
radman,cook,turiaf
odom,walton
kobe,evans,sasha,mckie
smush,williams,farmar

2008-09
Bynum, Mbenga
Pau, LO, Powell
Ariza, Luke, Ammo
Kobe, Sasha,
Fish, Farmar, Brown

I just think it's truly amazing to see how far we've come in just two years. From Kobe, LO and scrubs to a championship team. And now replacing Ariza with Ron plus a healthy Bynum (fingers crossed)... hats off to management and ownership. Man it's good to be a Laker fan.

A healthy 2004-05 team could have done some damage imo.

A better coach could have gotten something out of the Kobe-Odom-Butler core. Mihm was also pretty consistent that season.

ok not WCF but we could have done definitely better than a 1st round exit if we were healthy. We took game the suns to game 7 with brown just are center in 2005-2006.

plus I was really high on radman, he played very well when he was a clipper especially in the playoffs. I think his confidence gone down when he was playing crap because he just came from an injury. especially that snowboarding incident, that really lowered his confidence.

I dont think butler was that good when he was here, but still, yeah I think we could have made the playoffs that year.

Actually, Butler practically carried the team because Odom was injured during the first half of the season and Kobe was injured during the second half of the season, IIRC. We still ended up with 34 wins with that team. We could have definitely made some noise in the playoffs.

Yeah they kind of sucked. The chemistry was lacking. Kobe was different.

Butler could have made this a different team. We just did not have him long enough to see what he could do.

They were athletic as hell. Talk about nightmare matchups. This is way better though, Gasol over him even though that meant being tortued by Kwame Brown for whatever years.
