So what's the status on Stephon Marbury?
Haven't been hearing much of Stephon aside from his live broadcast online antics. Is he returning? Is he going overseas? Playing for another team? With the way things are going now, he makes it seem like he isn't even going to play in the NBA, or basketball for that matter, anytime soon, even though he said he wouldn't be playing in the NBA next year or for the Celtics (gotta take everything that he's saying with a grain of salt). I'm just really confused right now, because we still have a back-up PG void (unless Daniels becomes our back-up PG).

It seemed he was going overseas, but not sure. I wouldnt mind him as a backup PG, even rusty he was WAY better PG than House.
Who would win one-on-one in HORSE?
Bird: Nobody beats me in H-O-R-S-E. Besides, Magic cant shoot.
Magic: Larry, you'd have no chance against me one-on-one. I've got too many ways to beat you. Plus, as slow as I am, I'm still faster than you.

I was totally in favor of keeping the dude until I saw him on the net this summer. He's a total train wreck. I got that his shot was rusty and that he was playing with a hella weak 2nd unit, and I liked him on the Cs.
But is there anything about him on those UStream/JTV clips that speaks champion to you?
I'd still take him, but anyone that doesn't have pause after this is crazier than he is.

No one answered my question.
I don't blame you guys, though. I mean, does anyone really know? As far as I'm concerned, Marbury hasn't done anything related to basketball or made any negotiations for the past few weeks (days, maybe). He's just been on his webcam all day and night, which really isn't productive. Season is coming up in a few months, but I just wish Marbury could make his mind up soon and rid me of this anxiety.
Totally agree with you guys.

Re: So what's the status on Stephon Marbury?
The guy is so cheap he won't hire an agent, so the NBA Players Association is attempting to find him a job. So of course his "agent" isn't trying to find him a job overseas, and if he's thinking that some team is going to call him up out of the blue and offer him a job after all the bad vibes about him, he's even crazier than he acts. No NBA team wants him, the only offer he had was with the Celtics and he knocked that one off. At this point he's available to the Celtics if they want him at Vet minimum, and it's now pretty unlikely they want him. It's not a matter of him making up his mind (assuming he has one, which is in doubt), it's a matter of someone, anyone, offering him a contract. Nothing on the table, what's he to make his mind up about?

If you are Ainge you have to ask who the better fit for this team is, House or Marbury? If Marbury is brought back it will be at the expense of House, because there isn't enough room for both with Daniels coming. This is why I would pick House and bring in Lue, but maybe there is someone else Ainge likes and would like Marbury over House, which I dought.

Here is what is going on:
We are in talks with Indy and possible 3rd teams to get the deal done for MD. The hold up has been Ainge has wanted to include Gabe in the deal. That deadline passed. Now we have to see if a trade can be worked so we can give the LLE to Marbury.

Re: So what's the status on Stephon Marbury?
I am pretty sure Marbury is a lock for the backup PG spot if the team doesn't consumate a deal for another PG in their dealings with MD andn Davis.
For those of you over reacting to the recent Marbury internet vids, the guy has been "wierd" like that for a while now and recorded being so -doubtful that it has had much impact on the team's decision considering the amount of research they do - they've seen this side of him before, quirky, but otherwise harmless and nothing new or unexpected.
Marbury is the best value: most talent, cheapest price - Sheed/Scal/Bowen/Daniels/Marbury is a helluva bench - good D mixed with quality scoring...

Re: So what's the status on Stephon Marbury?
Eh, if I am not mistaken, Marbury's only been truly weird like that for the past two to three seasons - during which time he hasn't contributed much on court, either. I was in favor of us taking a chance on him but maintained he'd only be a solid enough pick up if his head was in the right spot. His head is not in a better spot today it seems compared to where it was after his father's death, and he's at an age where a lot of players see themselves become almost instantly insignificant regardless of mental issues.
House is a decent fit alongside Daniels especially since Daniels can't shoot. For a third string I'm not big on Marbury. I am also not the least bit confident in Hudson from what I can gather reading up on him, but I'd rather see what he has to offer as opposed to resorting to Marbury.

Yeah, I think so. In fact, I'd be surprised if we don't sign him. Not stunned, mind you, but surprised. We already knew that Marbury was out of his gourd before signing him last year. What makes you think that would suddenly become a deterrent now?

I declared myself done with marbury when he passed up that 3, but I think he's the best option now.
He did everything well while he was here, except shoot. Í don't think anyone else out there can shoot anyway, maybe Lue. But at least Steph could shoot before and maybe he can find his shot.

Re: So what's the status on Stephon Marbury?
I still don't see why people think Daniels can fill the PG role. The only time he did for any meaningful amount of minutes was his rookie year, playing in Nellie-ball, which is nothing like the system we operate (ie- we actually need a PG, Nellie-ball doesn't).
Since that point in time, Daniels has basically played as a decent 3rd or 4th wing, able to fill in at the 2 or 3, get points in the paint, and provide capable man and help defense. That's really all I expect out of him. Projecting him as a backup point guard is a recipe for a disaster.
Because of that, I would be happy to bring in Starbury or a guy like Lue who can provide some semblance of PG play for 10 minutes a game. Steph was super rusty, and maybe he'll never even be half the player he once was, but as a guy getting 10 MPG to give Rondo a breather and prevent chaos from ensuing on offense with the 2nd unit, I would have no problem whatsoever bringing him back.

Re: So what's the status on Stephon Marbury?
It's not about Daniels playing PG, it is about him playing alongside of House. Last year Ray played a lot with the ball in his hands when Rondo was on the bench before Marbury came here. With Daniels here it will be much of the same with Daniels handling the ball, not to mention this is what we used to do TA. If you can put House, Ray, Wallace, and Davis on the court with him you won't see too much of a problem with the offense. This is a much better second team offensiely than we've ever had in a long time as Daniels is a upgrade over TA in this situation, and this is what Ainge was yrying to accomplish this offseason, making the bench stronger.
