Thunder Sign Kevin Ollie
Ollie's 36 but played some minutes last year for Minnesota, even starting some games. He was good when he last played for Seattle, but I can't imagine him being a real difference maker.

Re: Thunder Sign Kevin Ollie
Well I mentioned them picking up an insurance policy PG after the Etan Thomas trade.
So they have one last roster spot available. I guess we will see if the Desmond Mason rumblings hold true?

Last week their were rumblings of Desmond Mason wanting to re-sign with the Thunder. This clears room for that to happen.
If they signed Mason that would be 14 roster spots and teams can carry 15. So maybe they make one more insurance move and pick up a guy like Mike Wilks?

Re: Thunder Sign Kevin Ollie
Yep... pretty dull offseason for a team that could've done a ton. I'm fine with it, but I know there were a lot of people expecting WAY more.
Ollie's good enough to be a 3rd PG that won't make any mistakes if we call his number. Hopefully he can be one of those good locker room guys that bring the team together and help teach them.

3rd string PG material and vet experience. No biggie. As for D-Mase, if the last spot is for him, how much are the Thunder willin to throw his way for what he does?

Re: Thunder Sign Kevin Ollie
Maybe 2 mil per year for a couple of years. If they didn't have the previous attachment to him, I don't even know if he'd be considered right now though. I guess they could use another wing player for depth, but when you're signing a vet to be the 3rd player at his position (ala Ollie), generally you don't give him more than a minimum contract.
If they were looking for the best fit (instead of trying to resign Mason), I think they would spend that money elsewhere and bring in a solid shooter. Probably won't change the season too much in either direction... I just don't feel like a fairly athletic wing with no jump shot is really a need for us (Thabo plays the same role and probably does it better already).

Re: Thunder Sign Kevin Ollie
If Desmond Mason is coming back, I hope it's for nothing more than the veteran's minimum for one year. Mason was horrible last year, and even before he got hurt it was obvious that he had lost a step. The couple things that he's alright at, rebounding and defense, are already covered by Thabo Sefolosha who at this point is the superior player.
I'd like the Thunder to take a look at another veteran big man that will sign for the minimum, such as Mikki Moore or Brian Skinner. Or a guard that can shoot some like Luther Head or Kareem Rush. They shouldn't commit more than a year to a roster spot that will hardly play..

Leon Powe would be a solid addition I think. Gerald Green wouldn't be too bad either I guess. Mason is a hometown guy though like Etan Thomas. Rodney Carney is a high flier I would take a look at also.

Re: Thunder Sign Kevin Ollie
I was just going off of the wire tap as far as Mason being the guy. It makes sense, due to his roots in Oklahoma.
But from a team stand point I think, even though White played pretty well last year for those 7 games he is still an unproven commodity. Mullens and Ibaka have yet to play a minute in the league so obviously they still have question marks.
Like Mac mentioned a guy like Mikki Moore would be another nice insurance policy. Or another guy that might work would be Chris Mihm. Not sure if Mihm has reached the point on full time bench warmer but he is a pretty big guy to have in the paint.

Don't forget there's a good chance that Presti will enter the season with one roster spot open.. makes it easier to do trades that way.

Don't the Thunder have enough centers already? They got Krstic, Thomas, Mullens, as well as Collison as another potential backup.

Re: Thunder Sign Kevin Ollie
He'll be a solid veteran presence on our young team and he should be able to give us some quality minutes when he's called upon.

Haha...how would i know another Celts fan would feel the same way. Mikki was a huge dissapointment, and did basically nothing for us.
Ollie is a good guy to have on your team, if nothing else. He's not nor never has been an impact player, but you can trust him with the ball. He's sort-of an intangibles guy, and a good presence and mentor for the young guys.
