Seriously guys, let's worry about winning a playoff round before you start saying what we have to do to win a championship.

Lou COULD become an Isiah Thomas. But we don't know anything about him yet.

I can be anything... sounds like you had the Reading Rainbow song running through your head when you wrote this. Come on, no logic in this reasoning. Think before you hit submit.

Sounds like Sessions is signed, sealed and delivered to the Knicks. Looks like Ivey is coming back.

Must admit I have questions about Lou Williams at the point. Can he successfully initiate the offense? Is he willing to look for his teammates more? Will he try to defend?

Yes, who needs a promising pg like Sessions when we have a 19 year old sure thing, Lou an now Ivey! What an abundance of riches...

the cup is ours?

yeah we would never spend the money or years on sessions.....

ivey is back..issue there is....of the three guys that will be playing point for us..only one of them is a actual point guard and he is 19 and played SG for his team last year in college.

terrific.

maybe the big guy we sign will actually be a big guy..and the SG/SF guy will actually be able to shoot. One can only hope.

I'm thinking Nachbar (he goes back a ways with Stefanski) or Delfino might be our swingman - if we're lucky. Pickin's are mighty slim at this point. But they might be the best of a bad lot.

Funny thing is that 2-3 years ago this is exactly what I hoped the Sixers would do- play their young guys and see what they have (and get a higher pick as a side benefit.) Not really tanking, just living in reality.

Instead they elected to go with starters like Miller and Joe Smith (who got them wins) and Green and Evans (who did not get them anything.) They made the playoffs, added the finishing piece in Brand and then... went 2 years back in time? Sort of an odd, bass-ackwards way of going forward. But I guess money issues can change ones M.O.

Hey, R. McCants is still out there, as is R. Carney. Nothing to get excited about, but how exactly can you get excited about anyone that you are looking at for a minimum or slightly above minimum type deal? If you can get any player that can actually contribute towards your 9-10 man rotation for that contract, it is somewhat of a success. The problem is, none of these guys do anything to move Philly towards taking the next step. They just help fill out the roster and deep bench. The only way this team will markedly improve via an acquisition prior to the start of the season is if they make a trade, which based on everything to date, is doubtful.

yeah i would add a carney or mccants..they have at least a chance of beating out willie green for PT at some point.

the big guy we get....means we had an injury if he is playing.

ivey..same role as last year really..spot minutes...not really the vet PG i was expecting..oh well

That Ivey signing is a real slap in the face if you ask me.

totally disappointed in this signing. I thought he got way to many minutes last season, and did a very poor job running the team when on the floor.

I don't want Lou/Jrue learning anything from Ivey. I'd much rather have taken a shot at a young guy or a super old vet (ollie type).

/sigh

im not dissapointed. he is not a pg so signing him doesnt officially mean we arnt looking for one because he played a lot of minutes at the 2. I dont mind him backing up/ taking minutes from willie. Say we sign tinsley still

Lou/Tinsley
Green/Ivey
Iggy/Kapono
Thad/Speights
Brand/Daly

I rather not have brand start at the 5 tho

Maybe they're planning to have Willie play some of his minutes at PG. Wouldn't that be interesting?

So you would prefer to give minutes to Tinsley over Jrue?

If Lou is starting who is our scoring guard off the bench? WG... not good. Green is a decent bench player but is not a go to scorer. Ivey even less so.

We need some semblance of scoring from the bench. Luther Head would be fine... Ivey is not that guy. Even if Speights is a main bench scorer, who runs the pick and pop with him? Not Ivy or Green.

To start last year the team was absolutely destroyed by the bench. The starters would get a lead and then the 2nd quarter nobody would even score for the first 6 minutes. I hope they get some type of bench scorer, even if it means taking Lou out of the starting line-up.

Right on, Tk. This is why I would have preferred Arroyo or Taylor over Ivey, especially since we just drafted a tall defensive first point guard...
