Detroit moving Rip for 1 expiring and better defensive player and gets some backup on C position.
Rip's contract is kinda toxic to be honest and I see no better fit for Rip than in Larry Brown's Bobcats.
Bell would provide decent backup for Gordon.
But on the other hand, do we really need so big contract and running so long on out salary cap. In 2 years time, Hamilton is not near worth what he should earn.
Bell 5'250'000
Nazr 6'466'000 6'883'800
for
Rip 11'625'000 12'650'000 12'650'000 12'650'000

I used to be all over the idea of trading for Rip, even with his giant contract. But that contract is beyond toxic for this team. The reality is the Cats are working on the cheap and do not want to add any money to the liabilities side of the ledger.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I agree. Although Rip would prosper in a LB system I don't think he is worth taking on that contract. Raja is sufficient for now.

A few weeks ago I could of been convinced. Now with the Okafor trade, we have shown our cards that we are in 'free cap space' mode, and we'll have to play that hand.
Pass purely for financial reasons. Talent wise I'd do it quicker than Sean May deepthroats a cheeseburger...

Lol, if we still had Okafor, sure.
Okafor
Diaw
Crash
Rip
Felton
Not bad starting 5, eh?

If the Bobcats are trying to dump salary, this makes absolutely no sense. In light of the Okafor/Chandler swap, it would absolutely shock me if they brought in someone like Hamilton. Probably would be a good option for Detroit, though - they really should move Rip.

Well if you guys wanted shorter contracts more than talent would you consider something along the lines of Prince for Wallace?
Wallace has 4 years (the 4th is a player option) at about 10 million. Prince has 2 years at about the same. Prince's contract expires along with Tyson's, Radman's, and Mohammed's. You guys would only have about 23 million dollar between your players (including Henderson, Augustin and Ajinca). About 25 million with next year's draft pick. That's a ton of cap space.
At this point Wallace is probably a little better than Prince, but when you look at money and durability its a pretty even trade for the Bobcats IMO.

I would consider that deal if we also got Maxiel, and give the Pistons either Nazr or Diop with Crash. I love Wallace, but Prince is still a quality talent, and Maxiel would be our long term backup at the 4. The Pistons really need a center, and getting Nazr for Maxiel helps them reduce payroll long term. I also believe Derrick Brown is going to be a surprise stud, and will be ready to take over the 3 spot in 2 years, just as Tay's contract is expiring.
But...I don't see Detroit dealing Prince for Crash. They need to move Rip, but I can't see any team eager to take on that contract in this economy.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.
