Suns 09'-10' schedule released

Post#1 » by DirtyDez » Tue Aug 4, 2009 5:39 pm

http://www.nba.com/suns/schedule/ -- Quick thoughts... 18 games will be nationally televised (not including NBATV), tough east-coast road trip at beggining of season and the Clipps on X-Mas

Not too shabby. We had nasty schedules the last two seasons with huge road trips and roller coaster difficulties. Best to get the big road trips out of the way in the beginning so we have more home games down the home stretch :)

Instead of playing San Antonio, Dallas and Portland 4 times a year each we only play them 3 times each which is favorable, also we play Memphis 4 times which is good... That's almost like a 4 win swing

i wish they had less nationally televised games this season. they always seem to embarrass themselves during nationally televised games.

Now I just need to decide if I want to buy the league pass to watch the 32 games that I won't be able to get this year.

I like it. We have a tough stretch in the beginning with that east coast road trip, but after that, it's decent till December. That stretch in December where its Cle, Sac, Lakers, Dallas, Orlando, Denver, San An, Portland, Washington, Cleveland is horrid. The only game in that 10 game stretch that we should win for sure is the Kings game, other than that, that's a pretty terrible stretch for us. Not to mention 5 of those are away, all hard ones, and then 3 games after that stretch, we're going to host LA and Boston. WoW :|

We have 14 sets of back to back games this year. Not sure how it compares to previous years, but that also seems like a lot. It's not bad for us though, we have a lot of home games at the end of the year. The last 5 games in April, with the exception of OKC are going to be tough too; notice they're all against teams that we could very well be competing with for playoff contention (aside from the spurs who will most likely be #1 or 2).

Finally the Suns get a good schedule. We play the Lakers three times before the end of December, Boston twice before December, and Dallas twice before the end of January. If the Suns manage to hold a top record in the West (top 5) before the Al-Star game I think we have a chance of getting home playoffs at least in the first round. In March, the Suns have 14 games played, 9 of which are at home, the 5 that are away games are against lower tier teams (Golden State Clippers, Pups, Bulls, Nets).

Thats good!
I think last year we had the most back-to-back games, we had somewhere in the range of 17-19 (I believe it was 18). We had the most in the league while the average was 14ish. Lets see how the Suns do with a normal schedule.

This season they're offering LP as a broadband service, which is great for me as my cable provider doesn't carry it and switching cable companies woudl be a huge pain in the arse.

Now I just need to get that 24" iMac to watch it on

You all realize just how sick it is to get like this over a schedule of games .... right?

Haha yeah I don't get it. The schedule means absolutely nothing. Hell I wish we played the tough teams the most since the Playoffs are our tragic flaw. We need to get these young guys in front of the powerhouses as much as possible. And also, games earlier/later in the season are like 6 of 1, half a dozen of the other. Would you rather win 40% then have to catch up later in the season when Nash is tired, or would you rather clean up early on and then have to keep the act together? Some teams stop trying later on in the season, etc etc. A 42-40 team is not gonna win 50 games no matter what the schedule is.

I guess this is a basketball forum though, and with our front office what else is there to talk about than the schedule. The only way I'll use it is to plan how I will travel around the Southeast to catch as many games as I can. Maybe save up some money for a trip out to PHX.
