NFL Trivia Thread

Post#1 » by J.Kim » Mon Oct 1, 2007 8:59 pm

Okay folks, here's a thread to see who has the most irrelevant and useless knowledge of the NFL/AFL/AAFL and etc., and to stroke and soothe our own e-id

(Mostly just to stroke and soothe the e-id)

Basically the premise of this thread is to Answer a question, and then whoever gets it right gets to ask their own question. It can be as obscure as you want it to be, and as blatant and widespread knowledge as you want it to be.

Just one thing I ask: Honor system! (And by that I mean no-Googling, no-Pro-Football-Referencing and etc.)

It'll essentially be an ongoing, continual thread.

Maybe in 2017 I'll tally the totals up... If I feel like it.

Okay, to lead off, here's the question. An easy one for you AFL-fans out there. (And no, not the Aussie Football kind)

Who was the first 1000-yard rusher in the history of the AFL?

Easy to think that. But nope.

Billy didn't even rush for 1000 in a season ever, I think.

In regards to the answer:

2 other guys ran for 1000-yards that season. If none of you can get the first guy to run for it, then I'll accept either of the other two as an answer as well.

Here's a hint to make it a tad easier:
He was on the Buffalo Bills when he rushed for 1000-yards.
Previous to that season, he was playing in the CFL with the Argonauts.

That would be Cookie Gilchrist--I remember Thurman Thomas talking about the great Bills of the past at the HOF this year.

I'll go with this one:
Who holds the record for most games started by a defensive player?

Damn you Icness...My trivia knowledge with defensive players is far more inferior than my trivia knowledge with offensive players...

With that said, I'm gonna guess Junior Seau. I think I heard something like that during a Miami game broadcast when he and Zach Thomas were playing together.

well after guessing clay matthews it says he played in 278 games (3rd most in history, according to wiki.) and since icness is a browns fan i think this is correct. he did play from 78-96

Darrell Green is correct. He passed Clay Matthews to get the record.

Would probably have to be a Junior out of College, and the only two Running backs that I can remember specifically being a junior out of college are Edgerrin James and Chris Henry.

And since Chris Henry is a rookie this year,
my guess would be Edgerrin James.

Edit: Oh wait, I think Steven Jackson was also a Junior...

But I'll still go with Edge anyway, hoping that his birthday is later.
